“Our friends love this spot and got a reservation while we were in town. We did the chef tasting menu. If you think that it won’t be enough food, it will be! We didn’t even eat much of the fried rice. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. One in our party has a shellfish allergy and ensured our choices would be safe and the chef prepared without contamination. Also the bathrooms were all black which was fun.”
“Heard about this place from a friend, I thought I wasn’t into sushi but this place makes me want to come back and try more. I ate downstairs and it was definitely a dim/moody vibe. The service was great and quick. The only thing I didn’t care for the Japanese friend chicken, it needed a bit more flavor to me, but the sauce it was served with was good. They had this soft serve ice cream that was mixed caramel and vanilla, I wish it was more than what they give for $10! The rose knot and alpine knot drinks were really good!”
“Went during restaurant week. We got there early and grabbed a drink at the bar while waiting for our table. All the drinks were made well and tasted great. The hostess let us know that turnover time was longer than expected downstairs and we could wait or grab a table upstairs. We decided to wait another 10 minutes and a table had opened up. While the upstairs was modern and lovely downstairs had a moody vibe and we were thankful we waited. Our server was attentive and helpful with picking items. Restaurant week requires the entire party to pick the same items but with so many small plates everyone is able to pick items and enjoy. Each item was wonderful. We each had our favorites, mine was the duck scrapple bao and my friends was the waygu bavette. I would absolutely go back to try other menu items.”
“nice place for small bites. the scallion ribeye skewer was amazing, very tender but flavorful. he wagyu soup dumplings were also good. didn’t really have much soup inside them but were tasty anyways. the tuna crackers are a thick wad of crispy rice. while it is very crispy it was too thick for my preference, and the fish itself wasn’t that good”
“Most items I got from the tasting menu were good - I especially liked the Japanese scallops and the bavette. My server, Danny, was great. I enjoyed his recommendations and appreciated his explanations of the dishes. My 2 complaints are: 1) Several items on the tasting menu had an upcharge. I would have liked to know this upfront on the menu. 2) Looking back at the photos, I realize I never received my order of fried chicken. With the tasting menu, you get 10 selections + soft serve but I received 9. I'm disappointed that I didn't get to try it and I feel like I was overcharged for the meal.”
