The newly renovated space features an elegant private dining area, complete with a sleek sushi bar offering an omakase tasting journey, led under the direction of executive chef and owner Leo Lin Aka Rio, リオ Among the pioneers behind the neighborhood’s sushi revolution, Shihou’s owner and Chef, Leo Lin, is no stranger to the world of Japanese cuisine. In 2015, he spent 3 months in Japan building contacts to source the most popular, season fish for the American palette. Although he visits his overseas colleagues quite regularly, his grand ambitions remain here, in the United States. A strong team of chefs and servers—all veterans of the omakase realm— have also been handpicked by Rio, himself. Together, with these powerful connections and expertise, the team is excited to serve you a spectacular meal in the beautiful New York City.
“We had a great time at Omakase Shihou. I felt like I was in a Japanese speak easy. It has a secret back room vibe that felt exclusive. The food was impeccable. Well curated and delicious. The chefs know their stuff. The waitress was super nice and helpful as well”
“We love sushi but have never done an Omikase before - the lunch special was a great way to try without committing to a full dinner experience. Gorgeous food, great service, really beautiful experience and delicious fish.”
“Outstanding menu! Hardly had better Sushi elsewhere - even in Japan. Very intimate location with just a few places. Got a seat at the bar facing the chefs seeing them doing their piece of art. The fish is superb, the Wagyu melts on your tongue. A perfect dinner spot”
“Good fish and overall good value omakase tucked away in the upstairs section of the restaurant. Great find for a last minute dinner reservation. Fish was as good and fresh as I would expect. Loved the king salmon with mayo and tuna belly the most. The mini donburi rice bowl appetizer was such a great way to start the meal. Pacing of the meal was a bit start and stop which could have been improved. Some things seemed less than 100% professional with the chef’s actual sushi making, servers confusing which item goes to who and also mixing up our bill at the end. Good price. Would come back.”
“My favorite omakase spot in Manhattan for the past several years. Reasonably priced, top quality, with great service and ambience. The Hakkisan sakè, while a bit pricier than the other bottles, is absolutely worth it. The best”
