The restaurant's name is derived from the Italian expression, "fare la scarpetta," which means to savor a meal to the last bite. In 2008, Scarpetta received a James Beard nomination for 'Best New Restaurant in America' as well as a coveted three-star review from the New York Times. The philosophy of Scarpetta's kitchen is one of creating bold flavors by amplifying the essence of seasonal ingredients. The signature pastas are made in-house daily and are paired with the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients. Scarpetta's famous Spaghetti Tomato & Basil is nothing short of classic simplicity in both taste and preparation.
“We went to Scarpetta tonight to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. I booked the reservation in advance and simply stated that it was her birthday and if they could do anything to make her feel special that would be lovely. From the moment we arrived we were treated with an amazing level of detailed attention that felt like we were special. Our waters were filled constantly, our questions were answered immediately and with care, and every need was attended to like we were family despite it being a busy dinner rush. The food became almost an afterthought which is criminal because it was beyond spectacular in every sense of the word. My picky wife ate out of her comfort zone the offerings were so good! The sommelier gave a wonderful wine recommendation, and the staff even made a beautiful impromptu dessert for her that was allergy specific. I called the manager over just to say thank you for such a special evening. Could not recommend enough”
“Everything at Scarpetta was excellent, but the hospitality truly set it apart. I’m big on customer service, and the team here is world-class. We were significantly delayed by heavy city traffic, but the host and management handled our late arrival with such grace and professionalism. I wish I had the names of the host, manager, and our server to thank them personally, because they went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us feel welcome despite the rush. It’s rare to see a team work so seamlessly to prioritize the guest experience. Incredible food, but even better people.”
“It was our 5th wedding anniversary, and William, our server, made the evening truly unforgettable. We were already impressed by the incredible flavors of the food — especially the simple tomato & basil pasta, which was absolutely delicious. To top it all off, we were pleasantly surprised when our dessert arrived with "Happy Anniversary" beautifully written on the plate. Such a thoughtful touch made our special night even more memorable.”
“We wanted to like this place more than we did. Strong start with bread service in this elevated dining setting. Staff were friendly but soft spoken, which turned into an issue when we were seated next to a loud and large group which didn’t seem to wane. The close seating and exceptionally loud neighbors meant we had a hard time hearing staff and even just taking to each other. Wish something could’ve been said to the one group that was standing out in a negative way. The food we ordered was otherwise really good. The bread service was arguably some of the best parts, though. Duck ravioli was good but dry, but the lobster tortellini redeemed the meal. Note portions are small and I’m not sure the price matches what you get. It was made worse with the rushed experience. It felt like the staff was intent on flipping tables - we were in and out in about 50 minutes total which didn’t help the feeling that we didn’t quite get what we paid for. Compared to several other excellent dining experiences we had while in this part of the city, I’m not sure we’ll be back.”
“We went for our anniversary. I called ahead and also filled out the questionnaire with our reservation letting them know it was our anniversary along with dietary restrictions. Started rough out the gate but they very quickly recovered and more from a service standpoint. Drinks were great and the wine list was extensive. The chef added a couple items on the house along the night. The food was good for sure, but I can’t say it was worth the price. The atmosphere wasn’t my favorite either, again not bad but just not the romantic vibe we were expecting. Highlight was the service for sure. I’m glad we went but I think I’d try somewhere else if I could do it again.”
