“Now this is the most normalized upscale dog larping restaurant. You’re sitting shoeless on the floor with an assortment of colorfully placed bites in front of you. Even the menu offers a photo of a dog. I made the decision to order the matcha cucumber drink RUFF RUFF it comes in a BOWL. Ding Ding Ding you are A DOG! LAP IT UP! The presentation of the sushi is elegant DIY. It’s the sushi version of the Virgil Abloh DIY activation. Or the sushi version of the Fendi embroidery baguette. AKA quality set up with the freedom to create within provided boundaries. The dessert was delicious, it’s a bowl of saucy balls. Three bigger balls and six smaller balls, to be exact. Some ants were trying to crawl into my food. guess everyone's trying to get a bite huh”
“What a great experience overall! Felt “traditional” in many ways and the service was top tier from the start to the finish. I loved the concept and the food was amazing as well. Great spot for a date, friends, birthday or just because.”
“A true enjoyable cultural experience. Upon entering you are greeted and asked to remove your shoes and wash your hands. You are then escorted to your table to eat as you sit on cushiony floor pillows. The presentation of the de-constructed Omakase is beautifully thought out and is accompanied by an array of salts and wasabi. Along with the fish you are given soup and seaweed wrappers letting you choose to wrap or not. In addition to the Sushi Set we ordered the Everything Don dish and Tokubetsu Junmai Souden Sake to drink. If you enjoy sweet sake this is the perfect one. The service was seamless with our waiter guiding us thru the different flavors. It's such a wonderful experience but be sure to be on time because seatings are very close together.”
“The vibe was really nice! It felt super traditional (for what you could get in NYC) and the service was great. I will say though, the food felt very subpar. It was a neat idea for sure, but the quality just didn't seem to match the price paid. The different salt types were interesting to try but not worth.”
“We had an omakase lunch, and it was such a fun experience. The meal focused on raw fish and was served in a hand-roll sushi style, which felt really unique and interesting. They gave us a separate paper menu with descriptions of each dish and tips on how to enjoy them, which I loved. One of the dishes even let us try rare salts from around the world—such a cool touch! Everything looked so pretty and cute, it was honestly fun just to look at. The only thing that didn’t quite hit for me was the miso soup. It seemed to have something like chili pepper in it, and I personally would have liked a more traditional miso flavor. The service was great. My partner mentioned my birthday when making the reservation, and they surprised me at the end with a kinako-topped Japanese-style ice cream—it was so delicious! Inside, you have to take off your shoes at the entrance, and the whole place is tatami-style seating. I really liked the traditional Japanese vibe, though I felt the shoe area was a little too dark. Last thing, I wish they had the better quality of water.”
