At Wayla, we serve bright and fresh homestyle Thai food with a greenmarket approach inspired by the markets in Bangkok where our Chef, Tom Naumsuwan, grew up. Our unique cocktail and mocktail menu reflects these bright flavors using ingredients like tamarind, galangal, ginger, citrus and chilies. Wayla translates to “time” in Thai- meaning - take a little time out of your day to come have a drink, or take a little more time off and enjoy a leisurely meal with us!
“Authentic Thai With a cozy moody dining room and a vibey outdoor patio. We had the yellow vegetable curry with shrimp and the lobster pad Thai. Great layered flavors that tasted fresh, rich but not greasy. Nice presentation too. Staff was attentive and knew the menu well. Third time here - always a fav when in the city. ❤️”
“Loved our brunch at Wayla! Patio is super cute! Food is super delicious - the best was the duck green curry and the crab pad Thai -- two awesome recommendations from our server. The basil lemonade was top notch, made by the bartender with the best hair. 🌟⭐️ all in all a fantastic eating experience!”
“Wayla is fantastic — flavorful, well-cooked dishes across the board, and definitely a place I’d come back to. We followed a bunch of recommendations from our waitress and were seated upstairs in Little Wayla, which made for a fun, slightly more tucked-away experience. The entrance itself is a bit confusing and unassuming, so keep an eye out. We started with the Hed Kua Kluea (shimeji mushrooms), curry puffs, and Yam Nan Khao Tod (crispy rice salad) — all were excellent. The crispy rice salad in particular had great texture and bold flavors. For mains, we ordered the crab fried rice, fried branzino (we chose the Larb Pla Tod, which was great — the fish is sectioned in a way that makes it super easy to eat), and the half duck with green curry. The duck was a standout — tender, rich, and incredibly flavorful. Everything was so good that we finished every dish. Overall, a standout Thai meal with strong execution across both small plates and mains. Would absolutely return.”
“We had such an amazing time here! What an unexpected “underground” gem. The ambience, the amazing drinks and phenomenal food! We ordered several of the drinks on the menu and did a fun tasting. It was hard to choose a favorite. I definitely loved the old fashioned, and the cocktail that was made with lavender was so refreshing and unique! We ordered the fried chicken, calamari and fried mushrooms, It was all amazing, but the fried mushrooms were definitely my favorite. At the end we re-hydrated with these delicious refreshing slushie waters that came in different flavors like basil mint, cucumber lime, etc… I cannot wait to go back!!! Definitely a new favorite spot.”
“I know new York has a lot of good Thai food but I absolutely loved wayla. The cocktails were remarkable with great aromatics and the impeccable presentation. We had sway wayla, old fashioned and land of smiles. I got a slice of ginger clipped to my glass with a cute miniature clothes pin! We were food hopping so we got a couple of small plates to share and the food was amazing. We had the Karipup Gai which was a mildly spicy, golden and flaky chicken curry puff. We also got the the poh pia puh, an elevated spring roll with crab and truffle that was crispy and delicious. The server was very friendly. I will definitely come back here.”
