The Landing

“First time to Newport and were totally overwhelmed with the inflated prices and offerings of most restaurants in the harbour. We found the Landing to be just right - we had wonderful service, a delicious seafood platter on ice and the cod bites were just right for a light lunch. Beers were local and crisp, views of the marina and harbour were top notch 👌 I’d totally recommend and come again!”

“Super fun summer restaurant. Plenty of seating out on the deck where you can see/hear the boats going by. I would recommend reserving a table. I went with a larger group and had no issues. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. We ordered mussels, calamari and oysters which were all outstanding. The drinks were great. I will definitely be back!”

“Love the Landing! Great food and fun, and of the best music venues in Rhode Island. So many fun time here with live music. On Bowens wharf so perfect for the oyster fest and the seafood festivals. Fourth of July too! Recommend biking here from the bike path. Also Jamestown ferry is a good way to get to and see Newport.”

“Went for dinner. They are on the wharf and have outdoor seating facing the boats. The drinks are expensive, $17-$20 each. The menu is very limited for vegetarian dishes, they had one entree. The shrimp scampi and salmon were good. The server was busy with other tables, so I had to get up and ask for grated cheese which arrived promptly. The portions are smaller than expected. The bar area had a good band and was packed. Overall, it is a good place for music and drinks.”

“I visited on June 15th during the day. 2 young women bartenders. Maybe college aged? I start with this so management can track who worked. I was visiting from The SW USA. I was also a tourist. There were 4 of us that came in and sat at the bar. The end of the bar was full of Scottish gents, in from watching football (soccer). They were having a blast. It was around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Great music playing. Although I think the second act later was better than the first. They were both good. The bartenders offered us a drink after a bit. there was about 10-15 people at the bar. Not too busy for 2 bartenders. No tables occupied. After that, we had to ask for every drink we wanted. No offer from the bartenders to serve us. We always had to get their attention first. frustrating at times as they were very inattentive. We were talking with the Scottish gents. Funny and having a great time. They were commenting on their travels so far and having a great time. Then, their attention turned to The Landing bartenders. How they had to almost beg for every drink they wanted and got an attitude in return. Very unfortunate and it will stand out in the tourists minds as it was their only poor experience. My friends and I noticed the same thing. The Scotts were ready to leave and asked for their bill. They were unfamiliar with the card machine they were handed and asked us for assistance. One of the bartenders just kept saying hit the 40%. He didn't understand and was asking us. She was demanding a 40% tip. They never ate. Only drank, got an attitude, and poor service then "HIT 40%!!!" We squared them away. Told them to maybe tip 10%. Just because someone is working in an establishment, doesn't mean they are the best representatives for your business.”
