From the edge of the wild Pacific Ocean, we source direct from local Oregon fishermen to connect you with extraordinary seafood experiences. Located on Newport's Historic Bayfront, watch commercial fishing vessels come and go as you enjoy a seasonal menu showcasing local fish, crispy crab cakes, and bounteous seafood stews. Downstairs, market-style dining is accented with a central open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows that afford views of the fishing boats in the harbor and the Yaquina Bay Bridge in the distance. Upstairs, panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean to the Coast Range are the backdrop to a more intimate dining experience, including a cozy lounge. The bar menu features inspired craft cocktails, local brews, a solid wine list, and boasts an extensive non-alcoholic beverage program. A NOTE ON GRATUITY: If you've dined with us before, you may notice something has changed. Starting July 1st, 2026, we're returning to voluntary tipping after several years of including a 20% automatic service charge. A modest 4.5% hospitality charge remains to continue supporting many of the things the original service charge helped make possible—benefits and a compensation system that recognizes the entire restaurant team rather than only the employees who interact directly with guests. Gratuity is now entirely at your discretion. Learn more about everything we do at localocean.net
“My wife and I stopped by on the way through town on a recommendation that this place had great seafood. We can both say that this was the best seafood dining experience we ever had. The food was so fresh and the unique dishes and menu choices were amazing. We both had the The roasted garlic & Dungeness crab soup and it was the best we have ever had. I had the Moqueca De Peixe (Brazilian Stew) which was so unique and tasty. Loved it! Our server was Charles and he was exceptional, Friendly and spot on with his recommendations.”
“If you’re in this part of the coast, it’s a must stop for lunch or dinner. I highly recommend the fisherman’s wife plate, the clam chowder, and crab cakes. We also enjoyed the tuna tostada and fish and chips. The fish was lightly breaded so much better than those heavy fried fish plates other restaurants serve. If you’re lucky enough, they have a great set of tables with a view too.”
“Fresh and delicious seafood! I am a big oyster fan and these oysters were amazing- they had the most subtle garlic-y taste that didn’t take away from actual fresh oyster flavor. We also ordered the Fishwives Stew and Albacore Tuna Frites which both had great presentations! Although not the biggest tuna fan this tuna made me want more! The tuna was medium rare and had the best grilled edges with a soft core and with the sauce gave it the best savory taste. I would definitely return for more! The restaurant does charge an additional 20% on dine- ins in support for employee healthcare and benefits which we support, but that is all disclosed upfront! Lastly, our server Charles was great!”
“Wow! Absolutely wow! From the first bite to the last, and in between and beyond, my palate was in an ethereal bliss, not having tasted such harmony and explosion before. First, Joaquin was an excellent server. Helpful. Answered questions. Provided insight. Educated us. Attentive. Then, the drinks. The Next Episode was something I had never tasted before with those ingredients at the same time, and they were perfect. I could drink the Next Episode every day and probably get different notes and profiles each time. Now onto the food. Brilliant. Amazing. Everything came together like an orchestra on opening night. Don't pass up the crab soup. Beyond what I could have ever imagined. The crab cakes were the best ever. At first bite, it's like "wow, that's yummy." But then it hits second gear, and you're like, "oh, wasn't expecting that." Then it goes into overdrive, and you're like, "yep, I will take more of that." And that's how it was with each bite. The tuna appetizer. Delicious! Perfectly seared. No chewiness. Just buttery and divine. And the sauce absolutely complimented it perfectly. The halibut with peaches and mozzarella - are we in food heaven yet? Perfectly balanced with high notes that even Pavarotti would be envious of. Then came the flan. That was the perfect encore to a fabulous meal. Everything was stunning, perfect, and absolutely delicious. Bravo!!”
“Stopped by for lunch based on the reviews, and it did not disappoint. Husband got the rockfish which was the best meal he said he had on our Pacific Coast trip. I had the spicy shrimp noodle and it was super fresh. My older daughters had the grilled calamari and the crab cakes - both phenomenal (calamari though wasn't what they expected.... the girls should have known before ordering), but crab cakes were awesome. The littles got grilled prawns off the menu (thank you to the kind waitresses for the alternative). Welcoming waitresses made our family feel welcome and attended to! With their mission of local fish and delicious food, highly recommend!”
