The Hideaway is a New American restaurant in the Ocean Beach neighborhood of ocean beach.
“Great place on Fire Island with fantastic views of the water. The food and drinks were made perfectly! Delicious Hideaway burger and Korean chicken! The Rum Punch was very fitting as the restaurant and bar have an island vibe to them. Will be back again next time I come to Fire Island.”
“This is Fire Island fine dining. The restaurant inside and out is just beautiful and every dish was so delicious. Its tucked away near the end of town just past the Verizon building and was the best meal... and there were a lot of great ones out there. Put this place on your list of must do's for your Fire Island vacation.”
“Editing review to include menus Went here with relatives for a special occasion. Service is very good but the food is subpar. Even though it was a weekday during the busiest time of the season, they were sold out of a lot of menu items. We ordered salad to share and were disappointed to find it mostly greens. I ordered the chicken skewers for myself. It was just average. The chips, while homemade, were extremely salty. The side salad that came with the main was the same as the appetizer salad. Others in my party who ordered the burger and seafood tower seemed satisfied. However, those who ordered the muscles felt sick the following day. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice and feels upscale. Service is top notch too.”
“Although our meal was subpar our server was attentive and professional. I think her name was Tessa. Started our meal with baked clams, bready and 1/2 a shrimp in the middle. The Seabass was the fish of the day was obviously pre-cooked and then heated up came out over cooked with this gelatinous, salty gravy looking stuff on the top of it. The tile fish was also served with the same club on top. The vegetables serve with the tile fish were cooked beyond recognition. The stuffed baked potato was also pre-cooked tasted several days old, burnt to a crisp. the inside was turning yellow and black as it had been laying around for several days”
“The food was absolutely disgusting and the Service matched that. As soon as we got there we asked to sit outside something with shade. We got there around 5 PM. We found a table that was shaded the waitress said we could not sit there because there was a 6:30 reservation for that table. We have to sit at a different table. She said there’s also a reservation for that one. The entire section was completely empty. There’s about 10 tables and maybe one family sitting out there. We finally found a table that she would allow us to sit at. As soon as we sat down, we all ordered and when we went to order dinner, she let us know that the crabcakes were sold out. One of the specials was this crab meat mac & cheese with a Parmesan crust that was supposed to be baked. Me and one of the other people in our party ordered that. The whole time it seemed like the waitresses could not be bothered. We asked for more water and one woman literally stared at us rolled her eyes and walked away. When all of our food came out, the mac & cheese looked horrendous. I’m attaching a photo below of it. It looked like buttered mac & cheese with crab meat just tossed in it no topping. When we asked the waitress if this was the one with the Parmesan cracker crust she said yes but they ran out of some items for the Mac and cheese and crust. For $25 I wish she would have told us that instead of getting the disgusting meal we got. Thank God we ordered a side of fries I just had that. By 6 o’clock she asked if we were ordering more when we said no she gave us the check we just got our food 20 mins before that we were still eating! By 615 she came over and told us that we had to leave because the reservation for 630 wanted our table also so we were being told to go. For spending over $300 on food and drinks telling people while they’re still eating that they have to leave is crazy. And on top of that, there was still at least eight open tables around us. I would never go back to this place and I would recommend nobody go to this place. Food was disgusting. Service was horrible and they rush you out for the price we paid. We should’ve been able to finish our dinner.”
