The Blue Point

“This place is great. It’s tucked back in the parking lot and you don’t think much stepping up to it. In fact, we thought they weren’t busy when we walked up. I would recommend reservations but they managed to sit us outside. The food was delicious. The wedge salad is fantastic. Their wine selection is very good also. We will be back. Nice spot to walk around on the dock after dinner.”

“The sheep head sliders were excellent, and my snapper was outstanding! Lots of locals come here and some of the service have been here for decades. Also beautiful views because they’re located right on the water! The first worst games I’ve experienced just sucks.”

“We go to Blue Point about twice a year. On our last 2 visits 2 of us got the shrimp and grits. In the past this had been one of the best meals we had ever had, both the presentation and combination of flavors. What we got last night was nowhere near what we had experienced in the past. It was a dark sauce presentation with few flavors we enjoyed. We both ate about half our meals. A great dissapointment from one of our favorite dining spots.”

“Used my Resy AmEx benefit. Expected nothing truly and it was delicious. Got the tenderloin and potatoes. Extremely flavorful. The potatoes were so good. My daughter cleaned her plate. Great being on the water at sunset.”

“Nothing was bad during our recent experience, but nothing was especially memorable either. I'll give a positive nod to the bar: the cocktails and wines by the glass were quite good. As for food? The ribeye, porkchop, and tuna special got good reactions. My fresh catch of the day was fine. My parents were disappointed by the crab cakes. My husband's catfish was good, but came 5-10 minutes after everyone else's due to a server error. (Everyone's human...mistakes happen.) We went here to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, a return trip to the Outer Banks for them after that's where we all vacationed together when we were growing up. I indicated the reason for the dinner when I booked the reservation, and was surprised that the restaurant never once acknowledged it. (I don't expect any sort of freebie, but a "happy anniversary" to them would have been nice.) I almost wish the restaurant wasn't still called The Blue Point anymore, as it bears no resemblance to what the original owners started on the Outer Banks decades ago. A space that was once warm, inviting, and comfortable now aesthetically resembles a (good) hotel restaurant.”
