Gigi Trattoria is a Mediterranean restaurant in the Village neighborhood of Rhinebeck.
“Loved this restaurant! We had a lovely round of drinks from their fun menu; sake margarita and a black cosmo? The service was good, our server started strong and did get slower as our meal went on but the restaurant also got busy so it made sense. Luckily they had busboys helping out. All the meals we had were delicious, specifically the burrata appetizer. We also had the most delicious sweet potato cheesecake for dessert, it might be seasonal though so go in now! Also our chocolate martinis were to die for, props to the bartender. It was a bit pricey but had a lovely chic and fancy vibe. My whole party really enjoyed our dinner here, highly recommend a visit!”
“Our second visit & loved the truffle fries with oil! Vegan menu . Sat outside on patio. Beautiful heavy white linen tablecloths and napkins. Daughter ordered turmeric spritzer 8.00 & enjoyed it. Son-in-law & I saved money by not ordering a beverage. Paul enjoyed the Il Giardino flatbread with vegetables! He said the Sicilian Cauliflower was not as good as first time, but was exceptional the 1st time they had it. No non-alcoholic beer. Fried oyster appetizer was small. Caesar salad for 14.00 was okay. Bianca pizza was tasty with goat cheese, etc. Waiting for check, & he brought over dessert menu. So, I got tiramisu to go for 11.00. Cup size portion. Exasperated over prices, but nothing is going to change that. 116.78 plus 25.00 tip. Special occasion, & the quiet atmosphere outside was worth it.”
“I enjoyed my meal. In particular the flatbread. The salad was good, but the vegetables were a bit dry. The outside seating area is very nice. Inside out can get dark and when I asked to be sat somewhere bright, they refused to stay me at a larger table even though they were completely empty and by the time I left nobody had sat in them. Other than that the staff was attentive, though not particularly friendly. Most of them didn't even respond to greetings, and again, it was a slow time of day.”
“I was very excited to try Gigi's as I've heard good things but was a tad disappointed. I understand prices are up but they seem high for what you get. I also understand organic and locally sourced food is more expensive as I tend to purchase them as well. There were 7 of us at the table. The server was pleasant and attentive. We all ordered dishes from the specials menu. The salads were okay but expensive for the portion size. I ordered the Baccala with cockels. It was extremely salty ( and I like salty foods). I know Baccala is a preserved fish and it's soaked overnight which should decrease that taste of saltiness but it didn't. It had no accompanying vegetables, potato or even some good crusty bread ( for dunking). I would have had to ordered a side vegetable ( $15) or Fries ($12). I tasted a small slice of the special skizza ( eggplant) and that was excellent. I'd like to return as I'd like to try a few more items off the menu to truly judge the quality. I wouldn't order the same dish and perhaps the server could suggest ordering a side when the main dish doesn't come with anything else.”
“It's...fine. But not for the price. We managed to spend $165 before tip for three people. We had only one glass of wine. Had the salad wedge appetizer, which was, again, fine. But the usual, gotta say, "upstate dressing bath," in which restaurants drench salads in silly amounts of dressing. Steak Frites was quite good. Just not NYC prices good. Would we go back? Hmmm... Maybe. The staff was lovely, the vibe/atmosphere is nice enough. We might venture to Kingston for a more distinctive dining experience if we're looking to spend this kinda bank.”
