“We had the short rib, the scallop udon, and the Brussels sprouts. We sat downstairs and we really enjoyed the ambiance and our server Holly provided great recommendations. I loved the espresso martini!”
“Was in town for a work trip. We took the team for dinner on our last night. Food was insanely good. Every single thing we had (boss man decided to have some fun and asked the host and team help curate our experience and pick our dinner) was insanely delicious. There's great food all over San Fran but Kaiyo was just a great experience overall. We also were able to experience the rooftop during our trip and the food and service up top is just as good. Highly recommend. Pictures are just some of the food we had. *Chef's kiss*”
“Amazing food - every dish was absolutely delicious and memorable! Full of well balanced flavors and very refined presentation. Very high quality ingredients that you can especially tell from the sushi/seafood dishes. Only negative was that the service was inattentive and lacking when we went. Maybe it was an off night and they didn't have enough staff, but the restaurant wasn't too crowded anyway.”
“I went with my partner at NYE, they charge 4 course food for $150/person, and 20% service charge on top. Here are some experience we had: - It was a rainy day and no bucket for the umbrellas, all just left on the ground. Someone grab a bucket later but still messy. - We arrived 10 minutes early for our reservation, the host asked us to wait, we waited for 15 minutes while seeing another couple of customers get their table immediately at arrival. I asked for the reason but the host couldn’t explain, so I waited 15 mins for the manager to come and explain that their table has been set before 5pm & “it’s not discrimination” - The food is unimpressed except the Duck(It’s why I’m giving 1 extra star), and we waited 20+ mins for each course(but understandable for NYE) - Sashimi has no wasabi with it and the waiter forgot to give soy sauce until we asked for it - they might have a delicious menu online but you won’t be getting that kind of food for the NYE set - Restroom is quite messy, the tissue paper box was wide open”
“Dear Management, I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my experience at KAIYO Peruvian Cuisine on May 9, which was also my birthday. I arrived at approximately 4:45 PM and entered the lower level of the restaurant. This was my second visit, and I was familiar with several members of the staff. Unfortunately, I was immediately treated disrespectfully by an employee named Jason, who loudly yelled, “We are freaking closed.” I was shocked by the aggressive and unprofessional manner in which he spoke to me. I returned at 5:00 PM when the restaurant reopened. A female (asian) employee greeted me and asked whether I had a reservation. I explained that I had stopped by earlier and mentioned that it was my birthday. She informed us that we could be seated, but that we would need to leave by 5:55 PM. When I asked whether that meant we would have to rush through our meal, she confirmed that we would. I found this extremely inconsiderate and unprofessional, especially for what was supposed to be a birthday dinner. During our visit, my girlfriend used the restroom and witnessed Jason leaving the restroom after urinating on the toilet and floor area, leaving the restroom in an unsanitary condition. The floor was wet and unsafe, creating both a hygiene and safety concern. In addition, the toilet itself appeared loose and close to breaking, and my girlfriend’s leg was pinched while using it. We have photos and videos documenting the condition of the restroom. I brought these concerns to the attention of the general manager, but he did not appear concerned or interested in addressing the situation. The overall environment felt hostile, disrespectful, and poorly managed. What also made the experience upsetting was that I did not feel welcomed as a customer. I observed Jason assisting other customers differently, and it left me wondering whether I was treated unfairly because of my culture. I cannot say for certain what his intentions were, but the way I was treated was unacceptable and deeply uncomfortable. Because of this experience, I do not plan to return to the restaurant. This is especially disappointing because I previously knew several members of the team and expected a much higher standard of customer service and professionalism. I sincerely hope this complaint is taken seriously so that future customers are treated with respect and proper cleanliness and safety standards are maintained”
