“Exceptional food! Everything is so fresh and tasty. Nice relaxing atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend. We had potato soup,Duck club sandwich, fish and chips, brownie- yuuum!”

“We heard good things about the Village House so we decided to give it a try. We were both very hungry so we figure that we would run this place through its paces. It was a hot day and while they didn’t have AC they had enough fans to cool things down. As soon as we got there, we were greeted warmly, we saw their open kitchen and saw the three cooks busting it out like crazy. Their patio was packed and the line was hopping. Although it was warm, the service was friendly and fast. The drinks were all well made, they also have a great wine and beer selection. We both opted for apples and mains and we were not disappointed. Highlights included my wife’s started salad and my beef carpaccio- both blew us away. Our mains were equally awesome. I can see why this place is so popular in Wakefield. If you’re in town, make it a point to some here. It’s worth it.”

“This place is definitely a little bit pricey but the food is excellent. The only part of my meal that was a little disappointing was the creme brulee. Everything else was amazing. We especially enjoyed the beet salad and the short ribs”

“Each dish is flavorful and unique. Service can be slow, and portion sizes are small. A bread basket would have been great; the server would lay one thin slice of bread at a time on your plate like bread is a scarce commodity. I would expect a bit more from a decor and service perspective only cause of the price point. Overall, it was a great experience.”

“Husband and I had dinner there in Aug 2023 to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. Our first time eating there. Outstanding food! Delicious flavours, nice presentation, high quality. Small portions, not the place if you want a giant meal. I had a smoked trout appetizer and a braised beef main. And a tasty gin cocktail. Husband had duck appetizer and lamb main and a chocolate dessert. Compliments to the chef. Our server was excellent. My only suggestion is that for such fine dining (and higher-end prices) the decor could be improved with tablecloths. The restaurant is very small. There’s a small patio where we chose to eat since it was beautiful weather and a scenic view of the river, but then a couple sat next to us with a baby so we switched to indoors for our quiet romantic dinner…but then a couple sat nearby with an active toddler. Oh well. I recommend this restaurant. Our dinner of 2 appetizers, 2 mains, 2 cocktails and 1 dessert with tax was almost $200, plus tip.”
