Comfort with a twist, cuisine that won't disappoint.
“(Based on OUR experience) not sure how anyone could rate this place less than 5 stars… We were in Abilene for a long weekend and walking through this little downtown area - we just happened to pop in here to check out the menu as we were heading back to our car.. and from that first moment everything was already great! The manager who greeted us was very friendly, answered a few of our questions, told us the daily specials, gave us a little walk around the inside to pick where we’d like to sit for the reservation we ended up booking for later that night. We came back 4 hours later to have one of the best overall dining experiences we’ve had in a while (aside from our go - to favorite place back home in DFW). I don’t believe there’s a better server on staff here than Owen. He was perfectly polished in his communication style with us. Not too chatty or overly involved, but not dry and boring. He was great at describing entrees we questioned and providing recommendations / sharing about the most popular dishes. As soon as we were done with any dish we had, it was just moments later he was there to clear the table. Filled our waters as soon as they were low. Gave us space but was definitely right there when he should be. The food was fabulous. (Everything is pictured except the wine we had) - -Calamari was long tender pieces covered in a crunchy fried batter creating a perfect balance between the two contrasting textures. The sauce was sweet with the right amount of heat. Highly recommend this as an appetizer!! -Branzino was one of the daily specials (& a big part of the reason we made the reservation bc this is one of my favorite fish - so I felt like it was a sign we needed to dine here) … it was everything it should have been and more. The skin was richly seasoned with a heavy hand atop a delicate, melt in your mouth, white fish. The veggies were a great texture and heavily seasoned as well.. I felt the wild rice was a little dry and plain, but my BF thought it was a good balance to all the rest of the flavor on the plate. I personally would prefer a cous cous or quinoa here.. regardless, absolutely YUMMY. Damn near licked my plate clean. They should make this a staple on the menu. -My hunnie ordered the bacon wrapped quail. So many robust flavors and textures going on in this dish. It was so yummy and such a unique menu find.. you don’t see this too many places.. and they did it right here. -The desserts…. Mark my words.. you need BOTH. the brûléed donut w/ ice cream && the toffee cake w/ ice cream. It’s not fair to say one is better than the other. They are so different, but both leave you wanting another serving.. We both were honestly not expecting the donut to be as good as it was, or the Bundt cake to have the flavor depth it did. I actually physically dropped my jaw in amazement at the way they executed two incredible desserts. We were feening for more, of both. I (jokingly) told my BF ‘I don’t wanna brush my teeth tonight cause I wanna go to sleep with this taste in my mouth’ - they were THAT GOOD 😩😩😂😂😂”
“For starters the menu is great, there's a lot to choose from and the pictures online make it hard to choose because everything looks amazing! Since I was undecided, I asked our waitress what she'd recommend and she didn't disappoint. I got the stuffed avocado with chicken salad and wow, the flavors between the chicken salad and hot sauce on top were perfectly balanced. I also enjoyed the prickly pear lemonade, it was so fresh for the hot summer days. Definitely a nice spot for lunch or even for dinner, plus the service was so good. Everything came out quick and our server was very attentive, even while bartending. Highly recommend and I'm definitely going back to try the dinner menu.”
“Visiting Abilene for a wedding and stopped here for lunch. What a gem! Food was delicious, our waiter, Jesse, was amazing and the atmosphere was so nice!”
“Had dinner here for Valentine’s Day and the owner brought out complimentary champagne which was really sweet. We got the ahi tuna tostadas but I forgot to get a picture but they were really good! I almost wanted to order another plate because I wanted more, for the main, my boyfriend got the shrimp and crawfish etouffee, it had a spicy kick but wasn’t overwhelmingly hot and had a lot of flavor. I had the steak coulette and honestly think it was the best steak I’ve had. The mushroom demi glacé on the steak was amazing as well. We got creme brulee for dessert and I almost ate my half and his! Overall everything taste amazing and our server was so kind and attentive as well, I just wish I had remembered her name so I could give her praise for taking care of us that evening! Will absolutely be back”
“Our group Ladies That Lunch Abilene had a delightful time recently at Cypress Street Station. Reservations were very easy to make online. And I was delighted to receive a confirmation call the morning of to gather additional information in order to make our experience the best possible. We had their different pasta dishes, hot pastrami sandwiches, salads, and a fondue appetizer. All three pasta dishes were delicious. I thought it was a little odd having a jalapeño corn muffin come with pasta. But one bite into the delicious muffin and I would have arm wrestled anyone trying to take it from me. The fondue was amazing down to the last cheesy bite. I have to confess that the house and Ceasar side salads were basically comprised of limp lettuce and rye croutons, a big let down especially at the price of $8 apiece. And when asked if you wanted chips or fries with a sandwich there was no mention of a difference in cost. Our server Brandy was professional and adept at keeping the gathering moving. All of the orders came out exactly as placed which amazed us. Drinks were refilled. Dessert was offered but we were all delightfully full. We also got 2 to go orders that came out with the bills. Separate checks were handled with ease and due to us being a group of 6 or more 20% gratuity was already added to the total. The restaurant, included bathroom, was immaculate. All in all we each had a wonderful time and we'll be coming back again.”
