From the moment of arrival, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and impeccable hospitality, setting a gracious and unhurried tone for the visit. Upon entering the tasting room, we were escorted to a thoughtfully prepared private table, perfectly positioned to overlook the Walla Walla Valley. The setting alone was striking elegant, serene, and intentionally designed to allow the wines and the landscape to speak in harmony. Our host dedicated meaningful time to sharing the story of Figgins and Leonetti, offering insight into the family’s roots in Walla Walla and their winemaking history dating back to the 1970s. This personal narrative added depth to the tasting, grounding each wine in a sense of place, heritage, and long-term stewardship of the land. The tasting itself featured four wines spanning both the Toil and Figgins labels, each presented with care and thoughtful context. Every pour demonstrated balance, structure, and a clear expression of varietal and terroir. Among an already impressive lineup, the Willamette Valley Toil Pinot Noir stood out as truly exceptional. It was a memorable and compelling wine, showing remarkable finesse, complexity, and elegance, easily the highlight of the tasting and a bottle that lingers in memory well after the visit. “An exceptional tasting experience, and some of the best wines we enjoyed in Walla Walla! However, we almost cancelled our reservation because of its misleading location. The Melrose tasting room is not located on the vineyards, as the photos would suggest - it is in a business park across from what appears to be a scrap yard. Once you go inside, the tasting experience will be wonderful, but one should not expect the scene advertised on Google Maps.”
