Fugu Sushi

“Soooo good! We were expecting omakase but we're handed a menu. We asked for omakase and they delivered! I have no idea what that bead item with fatty tuna on top was, but it was mind bending! Perfect blend of Mexican and Japanese omakase.”

“My favorite sushi restaurants are the little bars in back alleys in Tokyo that only seat a handful and the chef knows everything about the fish including what it's parents and siblings names were. Isaac, who started Fugu may not be quite that well-versed in his knowledge of the fish his expert chefs are serving up, but he has a great feel for amazing combinations of flavors that release at different times in your mouth, creating a party that you won't forget. Even now, sitting in this cramped taxi on my way back to the hotel, tapping this review out on my phone, the memory lingers. Like a melody that echoes through your head long after the song has faded from your ears, my mouth remembers how the salmon melted on my tongue, mixing with the wasabi and green onions. OK I'll stop waxing eloquent about my experience at Fugu because writing this review makes me yearn for the time not so long ago when I was there at the bar, placing each piece of fish gingerly on my tongue and experiencing the voice of God through my tastebuds. PS: Order the omakase. It's not listed but they'll so you up proper.”

“Extremely expensive, but super good. Service was pretty good. Not like a fine-dining experience you would expect at this price but just normal, decent service. Their fish is extremely high quality. I've been all over Japan 7 times now (not that that makes me an expert) but I would compare their food quality to that of good restaurants in Japan. You can tell just seeing them cut it how good it's going to be. Still a bit expensive though due to the service being "normal/average". Would I go back?.... Idk... Maybe for a snack. If they lowered the price by about 15-20% I would absolutely go back.”

“Absolutely fantastic and expensive!! The best nigiri bar in Mexico right now. Incredible quality of fish and great balance of the more intricate dishes. The omakase is fantastic but quite hefty for Mexico City prices however it does have things like Japanese uni which make it worth it.”
