“4 friends & I went to Jane's Tea House as a surprise for our friend who is a "Bride to Be." It was the perfect enviornment for conversation and amazing cutesy finger foods (that somehow still left us full despite their size)! An added bonus: our waitress looked like Penelope from Bridgerton which made our tea time feel even more elevated (and she was so so sweet)! We had a great time!”
“I made reservations for 3 online. I didn’t realize until we arrived that reservations are only required as well as no walk-ins on weekends. Otherwise during the week you can make reservations or just stop in. We were seated at a nice table with ample space away from the other filled tables. This allowed us to enjoy our conversations and our visit. While we decided on which hot teas we wanted, we were each given a cold glass of light iced tea with sliced strawberries.This was refreshing. We chose steaming hot teapots of Orange Spice Decalf. and Almond Almaretto Biscotti (my choice). The tea remained nice and hot until the last drop. We enjoyed our choices of tea. Because I have some tree nut allergies, they went over what were my exact allergies and how to handle them. I had my own tiered tray of sandwiches and sweets to make sure I didn’t get anything I shouldn’t. Our meal started out with a delicious salad with assorted greens, crumbled cheese, sliced almonds and diced mangos with a complimenting dressing. There was a nice variety of delicious tea sandwiches and a little quiche, delectable desserts as well as two types of yummy scones with a small tray of fresh whipped cream, homemade butter and also jam. Our server was very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. We had a great time at Jane’s Tea House enjoying good food and good times together. We will be back again!”
“Went here today for the first time! It’s super cute but the service is slow. Our waitress didn’t really seem to know a lot about what was given and there were definitely times when we were trying to see where she went because we needed or wanted something. They don’t offer water and the salad was very over dressed. The tables are SMALL and we couldn’t fit everything on it. Definitely cramped and tight spaces. The staff seem to do it all from bussing to cashiering to serving so there’s just a delay. The food was mostly good, some items we didn’t enjoy like the salad. But our tea was very tasty!! I wish the server explained what each item was or was a little more helpful, we think she was new. But overall the experience wasn’t terrible! 3.5 stars.”
“If you do not have clotted cream simply don’t serve clotted cream Don’t give me a ramekin of whipped cream and tell me it’s clotted cream like I’m an imbecile There are plenty of etiquette rules & standards to attending afternoon tea but there are just as many to serving one Management & ownership clearly have never attended tea service or done meaningful research on hosting one Each table is limited to 2 selections & 2 pots of tea Don’t all agree? Oh well Refills? Extra charge But wait you actually receive 3 pots because upon seating a pot of the “seasonal” herbal tea is served whether you like it or not Additionally serving milk w/ black tea apparently isn’t standard here & must be requested The Earl Grey tea is excellent First course: salad Hopefully no one in your party has severe nut allergies because before even taking tea selections a plate of spring mix buried under walnuts is dropped in front of you Those in our party who could consume the salad without triggering a medical emergency did not enjoy it Second course: savouries Absolutely nothing to complain about Finger sandwiches were fresh Chicken salad was excellent Egg salad on croissant was good Quiche was also good However I have absolutely no doubt the chicken salad & egg salad were scooped from premade tubs from Sysco or Restaurant Depot based on our experience w/ the sweets Scones: underbaked Disappointing given reviews raving about them Maybe we received a bad batch maybe the local population has never had a decent scone Will not be returning to find out Since the savoury scone was served alongside a sweet scone the only butter served was savoury herb butter There was no butter for the “butterscotch” scone & we received ~1 tbsp butter & 2 tbsp each of other toppings between 5 people The “clotted cream” has been addressed as it was the most offensive part of this experience Rather than traditional jam or marmalade we were given “mango compote” How someone decided mango & butterscotch are complementary I have no idea Anyone in this industry would immediately recognize Reàl purée squeezed from a plastic bottle Sweets: thaw & serve La Boulangerie des Gourmets frozen macarons (including pistachio in shared trays so again watch for nut allergies) sold separately 6/$14 or 57¢ ea Chocolate mousse mix piped into a cup w/ processed whipped topping Menu lists lemon cheesecake while the server identified small tarts as key lime pie Not sure which we received but one batch lacked even a hint of citrus Saving the worst for last the “strawberry” cupcake Cupcakes chocolate mousse macarons (& most egregious cannolis on the children’s menu) are not standard tea sweets The driest cake I have ever seen completely inedible The frosting was processed elastic palm oil goo & neither cake nor frosting had any strawberry flavor Atmosphere & service: friendly but casual slow & inattentive Server was not knowledgeable Not her fault Space was fine if gaudy Table crowded Paper napkins & plastic dishes For over $40/person you would expect more It’s hard to comprehend why management can’t get tea service right Good quality premade desserts exist & scones are not difficult to make It honestly feels like lack of effort or respect for customers All in all a very expensive abysmal experience Two stars for the chicken salad friendly server & Earl Grey”
“Two stars solely bc of the selfie station and our sweet waitress who was a server, busser and cashier was busy and nice. I am convinced that the more than favorable reviews are coming from people who have never had proper tea at a real tea house. We were first placed in a corner where they shouldn’t even have a table because it is so dark and right next to the bathroom. We asked to move tables and myself and two others were replaced at a better table. I go to sit down and cross my legs and I get stuck on a way to long table cloth that is draped onto the floor that it’s so big. And the tacky paper napkins that weren’t it at a so called tea room. Christmas tea was good as was the apple crunch. The Hazelnut Vanilla tea smelled and tasted like neither. Smelled and tasted like hot water. Which I would’ve liked to have been offered a glass of water. We got our overdressed salads. Decided to order the loaded potato soup. It wasn’t loaded, was served cold and all 3 cups went untouched bc it just wasn’t good. We waited almost 40 minutes for the rest of the food to come out. We were seated a good 20 minutes before the other two tables near us and I’m wondering if they waited until the other tables were seated and had their salad because ours were served along with the other tables. I thought it was weird that we sat there for so long, drinking tea without the sandwiches,scones,desserts,etc. The server didn’t describe what we were given, just that here are the scones, sandwiches and dessert. She did describe the clotted cream(way to thick to be clotted cream and the herb butter which was so cold and solid that it couldn’t be spread with the knife.) I will say what we liked. The quiche were edible, the turkey and cheese pinwheels as I would describe it we’re good, as well as the very sweet eggnog dessert. No to everything else. The chicken salad taste like nothing and is the consistency of mush. The savory scone tasted like I was pure sage in and the sweet scone Was thick and dry. The selfie station was cool, but it would’ve been better if we could’ve done it prior to when we ate. It wasn’t opened up until we received our food. I wouldn’t want to have a private party here because you have to have everybody walking through to pay their bill and get to the gift shop,which is underwhelming. It could’ve been decorated really cute for Christmas. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired and myself and companions agreed we will not be returning here.”
