“I recently visited this tea house with a friend and wanted to share some balanced feedback about our experience. The tea room itself is lovely. The space is cozy and thoughtfully decorated, with soft colors, floral touches, and bookshelves that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. It felt like a pleasant place to spend an afternoon, and the ambiance was one of the highlights of our visit. Unfortunately, the food and service aspects of the experience did not meet our expectations, particularly given the price, and particularly since this establishment is marketed as a “tea room” and not simply a cafe. Since it was a weekday, they weren’t offering a full tiered service but rather what they referred to as “mini” version. We ordered the mini tiered tea service, which was $22 per person, with drinks purchased separately. We were instructed to pick two options for the savory tier out of four offered. For the two of us, we selected 1) the Sweet Corn Ricotta Tartlet and 2) the Heirloom Tomato, Mozzarella & Basil Focaccia as our savory options. While the flavors were pleasant, the portions were extremely small. The tartlet was about the size of a quarter, and the focaccia portion was only a few bites. We each received one of each item. The focaccia was so firm that I initially couldn't tear off a bite with my teeth and ultimately had to use a knife to cut it. The tea service also included scones, along with small portions of butter and jam. Unfortunately, we found the scones to be quite dry and lacking in flavor. Dessert consisted of a Lemon Key Lime Cheesecake Bite and a Mini Watermelon Cupcake, again one of each per person. Both desserts were literally bite-sized. What disappointed us most was the overall value. After paying $22 per person for the food and an additional $5.50 per drink, we expected either more substantial portions or a more elevated tea service experience. Despite spending nearly $30 per person total, the entire service amounted to only a handful of bites each, and we left hungry. I understand that afternoon tea portions are typically delicate and refined, but there should still be enough food to feel like a light meal. We were also surprised by some of the presentation choices. My chai tea latte was served in a cardboard to-go cup with a plastic lid, and my friend's iced tea was served in a plastic to-go cup, despite the fact we were dining in. There were no salt and pepper shakers, instead there were packets like you’d get from a fast food restaurant. There were no sugar cubes; again, just packets. As a tea house offering a tiered tea experience, we had expected more traditional presentation and serving ware. There were also a few service details that detracted from the experience. We had to ask for cutlery after our food arrived, and when it came time to pay, we needed to make a special request for a printed check in order to see the total cost after having been told that we could “just pay at the counter”. While these were minor issues individually, they contributed to the overall feeling that the service was not as polished, or as “tea room” specific as we had expected. The atmosphere was charming, and I wanted to enjoy the experience more than I did. However for the price charged, the portions, presentation, and service did not feel like a good value or live up to the “tea room experience” we’d been looking forward to.”
