“During our visit to Hamburg, we had the pleasure of dining at Jellyfish and it proved to be an exceptional experience. Each dish was artfully presented and impeccably seasoned, reflecting both creativity and precision. For me, the standout was the tuna with peanuts and cabbage a perfect harmony of textures and flavors. The staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming adding to the overall delight of the evening.”
“Jellyfish, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Hamburg, has been open for a decade and received its star after a takeover in September 2019 (awarded a Michelin star in 2022). It’s located in a bohemian neighbourhood, with pleasant outdoor seating — perfect for summer drinks and smokers. The interior is small and intimate, with white walls and minimalist art. A bar sits at the far end with bench seating in front, alongside tables for two or four featuring wooden frames, leather inlays, and buckle-style seats. Lunch Menu Three- to six-course lunch menus are offered at €49 / €59 / €69 / €79. We chose the 4-course menu (€59): • Bread& Jellyfish Cutlet • Choice of second course • Choice of main • Dessert Bread Sourdough and focaccia with pumpkin spread, topped with spices that added sweetness and a crisp finish — excellent. Jellyfish Cutlet Peperoni | tofu | citrus Two small mixed fish cutlets (catfish and cod). The citrus dressing was lightly sweet and very refreshing. Onsen Tamago Shakshuka | rocket | roasted bread A soft egg with vibrant yellow yolk flowing into what tasted like pickled onions and tomatoes. Finished with coriander — comforting yet refined. Truffled Parmesan Soup Quince | parsley | croûtons Beautifully presented with green and white droplets and croûtons holding their shape as the soup was poured. Creamy, savoury, and perfectly balanced. Seafood Risotto Mussel fumet | fennel | garden herbs A well-executed risotto with tender octopus, prawns, and mussels, all cooked perfectly and finished with a light foam. French Corn-Fed Chicken Lentils | water spinach | croquette Juicy chicken breast with a nice foam, well-cooked lentils, and tender greens. Slightly on the salty side, though still well balanced. Peach–Passionfruit Mousse Exotic fruits | pomegranate | rosemary A beautiful, light dessert with a ring of peach, decorative structure on top, edible flowers, and delicate herbal notes — very summery. The wine list is well curated; we chose a German white that was well priced and well matched. Service was friendly and professional, with explanations offered in both English and German. The atmosphere was relaxed and unhurried, with plenty of space between tables, making for a calm and enjoyable dining experience. Overall: an outstanding lunch deal — excellent value, warm service, and a lovely ambience.”
“A Culinary Masterpiece – A Must-Visit in Hamburg! Dining at Jellyfish Hamburg was an unforgettable experience. The 7-course tasting menu was a symphony of flavors, textures, and creativity — each dish beautifully presented and thoughtfully composed. From the first bite to the last, the progression of courses showcased the chef’s exceptional talent and deep respect for seasonal ingredients. What truly elevated the evening was the non-alcoholic pairing. Far from an afterthought, it was innovative, bold, and perfectly matched to each course. From fermented infusions to botanical blends, every drink was a revelation — enhancing the dishes in ways I didn’t think possible without wine. I highly recommend opting for it, if it is a workday the next day — it’s a refreshing and inspiring alternative that deserves just as much praise.”
“Star of the show was honestly the snacks and the bread & butters - those were phenomenal! they have a seasonal menu that changes every 2 months - I thought for the price point the food was pretty good. Service was a bit slow but maybe that’s because we had a big group. Everyone could pick their own set of tasting menus which was nice and there were add on items too.”
“The waitress who was serving us spoke really softly, almost too soft that we were struggling to understand her at some point. Also, she seemed a bit clueless about the dishes and she even forgot what some of the ingredients were. We were there for lunch and got the bistro menu, the Caviar tarts were really delicious! The other dishes were also fine, although nothing extraordinary. However, the shellfish soup was too salty to my liking, even when paired with bread.”
