“I love the food here. I enjoyed pretty much all dishes. The strongest were the shrimp, the scallop, and the pigeon. There was a spring pink theme for the night. Wines were great. Service was perfect. The restaurant itself was gorgeous, but the hotel could do a better job with their restrooms.”
“Was here in last November for my birthday. Not just artistically or aesthetically, it was an all around extraordinary and exquisitely rich culinary experience. Had another 3 Michelin last week (The Table) but Haerlin was something else, to which we both agreed and got the chance to confirm. Perhaps meat lovers who do not prefer seafood might not be as satisfied but Haerlin hit the spot and offered by far a better and fulfilling fusion experience. The ambiance, the service as well as the menu is worth it.”
“When food becomes art! I’d dreamed of visiting this place for a long time, and the day finally arrived. Everything was fantastic — not overly snobbish, but luxurious with a personal touch. We started in the kitchen with a glass of wine and a few snacks; I’ve rarely seen such a calm kitchen, and it was obvious that every detail was under control. After that, we moved up to the beautiful dining room, where we were spoiled for the next four hours. It’s an experience you owe yourself at least once in your life. It’s not cheap, but the price matches the quality, and the memory is worth it. I already know I’ll be coming back for another one.”
“This is the 2nd time coming to Haerlin, now after they were awarded their 3rd star and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. I had the "Via Coravin" wine accompaniment, something I regularly do in order to discover new wines. As we were three persons we each also ordered a different one of the optional "supplements". From beginning to end this is what to expect of a good 3 star restaurant. Service was excellent, dishes were beautifully arranged and presented, and tasted delicious. Maybe because it was at the beginning but the amouse-bouches were simply devine. The evening proceeded at a liesurely pace with none of the unacceptable rush one is finding in some 3 star places like "Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare" with its 2 nightly seatings. As it was getting late with an elderly person, we took the petit fours home with us, hence the boxes. The whole evening was well worth it. I/we will return once the menu has changed.”
“Let me start with the positives. The amuse-bouche was very strong, with the veal broth being the standout. The atmosphere is elegant and calm. Now, let’s talk about the food. I had the standard tasting menu, with the additional crab and sweetbread. If I’m being brutally honest, the food wasn’t memorable. The flavors felt safe, with nothing daring, and overall the sodium levels were not well controlled. The wine pairing was disappointing as well, with no real standouts. As for the service, it was overall a bit cold. The younger staff were friendly, and the manager was welcoming, but the rest of the team seemed to be there merely to fulfill their duties. In the end, this was not a memorable experience. At best, I would rate it two stars. Michelin was too kind in awarding this restaurant three stars. I would instead recommend The Table by Kevin Fehling, the other three-star restaurant in Hamburg, which offers a far better experience.”
