Tucked into the upper story of a delightfully faded building in Chinatown, Kissa Tanto invites you into the little jewel that is the House of Plenty. While eating delicious morsels, we will laugh, tell stories, escape to soulful places that only great music can take us and hold hands in dark corners. So please fix your hair, wipe the mud from your boots and come in.
“Fantastic experience! Food was amazing and service was excellent - attentive and friendly without edging onto intrusive. Cocktails were beautiful and super tasty. We had the tasting menu and every dish was delicious but the standouts were the first two courses - radishes with octopus and the white asparagus. The wagyu was grilled perfectly. Forgot to take photos of the last two courses, iberico ham and Japanese sweet potato, and tiramisu for dessert. If I had any suggestions, it would be that, after a series of such wonderful and creative food, it was a bit of a let down(?) to have tiramisu for dessert. It was really excellent tiramisu but after the creativity and beauty of some of the plates, it just seemed a bit anticlimactic to have tiramisu. Not complaining because it was amazing tiramisu. Just an observation. Everything was truly wonderful.”
“We celebrated my partner’s birthday and our anniversary at Kissa Tanto by getting their base-price omakase at the beautiful bar. We had no idea what dishes we were getting, which I think made for a fun experience! It was challenging to choose which course was my favorite. Some standouts were the octopus salad, off-menu lightly grilled sawara (which just happens to be one of my most favorite fish species!!), tajarin, and off-menu agnolotti topped with furikake and roasted/powdered sweet potato skin. The amount of food and pacing of courses were spot-on. Drinks (A and non-A) were great! The nihonshu recommendation from JR paired well with my last 2 courses. Service was phenomenal. Thank you so much for the thoughtful and amazing hospitality!”
“We had an absolutely stunning dinner when we were in town in Vancouver at Kissa Tanto. We found the restaurant on the Michelin site and were not disappointed. We love tasting menus so we can try a little bit of everything and their omakase did not disappoint. Their unique fusion of Japanese and a light Italian touch was interesting and we had such a great meal, but what we really enjoyed was the service. Our server was extraordinary and went out of her way to really communicate the menu to us, explain everything, and really offered an excellent perspective on each extraordinary dish. We did the wine and sake pairing with the menu and that was both delightfully surprising and delicious. Highly recommend!”
“My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Kissa Tonto this evening. Our server, Roberto, was amazing. Knowledgeable, fun and attentive. Though the entire team works really well to support service and vibe. The food was amazing. We had the omakase which highlighted some staples from the menu but the also elevated some dishes. We will definitely be returning.”
“Wish I could give it 4.5⭐️. Great mains, but didn't enjoy some of the appetizers. The udon had a sweetness from the seafood and a sour from the citrus. Noodles were perfectly bouncy. The specialty steak was made really well and the herb butter sauce paired perfectly. I would've wanted some bread to dip in the sauce and I think that would've completed the meal with us feeling full. All in all, good place for a special occassion, but not necessarily somewhere I'd visit often.”
