“We have an amazing omakase lunch at Taki, the balance of fish, rice, soya and toppings on the sushi are superb, the sashimi fish are of the freshest quality, the sesame ice cream rounds off the satisfying meal perfectly. However there is one more surprise, when I was chatting with the head hostess, she asked if I visited Nami before, it turns out she remembers me out of the many patrons whom frequented Nami before. It turns out Taki is run by chef Takinami from Nami as well as the head hostess. This is such a nice surprise as customers who misses Nami can visit Taki now.”
“Saw this place on TikTok late at night and booked it on impulse, no regrets. There were three lunch omakase options available that day, and we went with the sashimi nigiri lunch. The course started with miso soup, followed by a sashimi appetizer, then 8 pieces of nigiri and a temaki. We even got ice cream at the end. It doesn’t look like a lot, but it was surprisingly filling. The omakase was served in a separate room that seats around 10 people (I think?). Service was attentive throughout, servers constantly checked in to make sure everything was okay and we enjoyed every part of the experience, even the lady at the door was super friendly. At $55, it’s an insane deal. No super high-end fish obviously, but the experience and setting alone make it more than worth it. Highly recommend!!”
“First, the decor was simple, cozy and fresh as the pine/maple wood color helps make it an inviting environment. Service is excellent From greeting us upon arrival to taking us to our booth for Sukiyaki, to ensuring we had enough tea etc Staff did an excellent job with prepping our sukiyaki meal from explaining how the veg and beef is layered and how long to cook it before eating, in a very courteous, took the time to explain in a very pleasing tone (some places the instructions are just to harsh) Family loved the Angus and Wagyu meal combo as it gave them chance to see, taste and enjoy the differences..and the Angus beef is really good but the "certified" Wagyu is a level above with its buttery texture. The veg, nappa, tofu, and noodles, especially the knotted noodles, were very fresh and accompanied the meat well. I had the omakase lunch and appetizers, tempura was done very well and the batter was not excessively thick. The steamed egg was so flavorful with its shrimp, fish cake slice etc pieces. Sashimi pieces were fresh, salmon tasted like salmon, hamachi, etc were all good but I felt the pieces were average in size. I think sushi was better than sashimi ..as it each piece had the right amount of rice for each fish. For example the scallops tasted like scallops (some places they are like rubber and no taste), handroll was the right portion of rice to fish ...and the uni is unbelievable fantastic.. arguably best ever... I forgot what the other pieces were. Dessert was very goodm. Black sesame ice cream is a tad sweet for me while the Macha ice cream is velvety smooth and you can taste the macha. So, this is must visit for high quality Sukiyaki and omakase. Can't wait to come back.”
“This was my second time at an omakase restaurant, and my bf's first time. I wanted to make sure his first time (and for his birthday) was really good so I found Taki, and I was impressed. We got the Sakura course (middle option) since we both like sashimi. I was surprised at how much toro we got, and also uni. Everything was delicious and I was reminded that tuna sashimi can be really good if fresh and prepared correctly lol. I'm not sure how the chef remembered at which part of the course all the diners were at, since we came in at staggered times, and he wasn't preparing the same fish for each set of diners. It was amazing for me to see him know exactly what/when to give everyone the next dish. I noticed that he torched a lot of the fish options, and I think I would prefer fewer torched fish pieces than not. I like the decor and aesthetics of this restaurant, but I was a bit put off by a group of 3 diners who were chatting extremely loudly in their corner, in Cantonese, about their children's school activities. I was expecting the vibe to be calm and serene, but they were being so noisy and disrespectful of the environment like they were just at a bar. The other diners were all hushed, so it was just them, but maybe this restaurant is more lenient about noise? Still, it was a good experience and I'm glad I got to try another sushi omakase”
“Great value for what you get out of the Omakase. Servings tasted great and fresh despite my visit being one of the further days away from the typical seafood shipment day in a week in Toronto. This indicates a high quality operator who takes good care of ingredients. Dinner service comes in 3 courses, I chose the lowest course for about $100 and it was fantastic. Surprised the course included Uni despite being the lowest course and my wife and I were pleasantly stuffed by the end of the meal.”
