Rochester's only urban winery, founded by husband and wife team Sebastian [a six-generation winemaker from Adelaide, South Australia] and Colleen [a Rochester, NY native] Hardy. We source grapes from a number of growers, including both of our families, and focus on rich whites and sparklings in the Finger Lakes and vibrant reds in South Australia. Our tasting room and urban winery is located in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts. Pop in to sip on our minimal input wines, snack on local & Aussie cheeses, shop for bottles and merch, or level up your wine knowledge at one of our wine classes in the Vault. **Club members - looking for club exclusive events? “Really glad we chose this as a spot to stop in. Working road trip, needed a place to plug in and work. Atmosphere was very pleasant here and we got to try several different wine varietals. Service was perfect. Our favorite was the seasonal sparkling rose which shocked us both. I also loved the sirah syrah. Highly recommend trying a wine flight!”
“Living Roots is easily one of my favorite spots in Rochester! The atmosphere is bright and welcoming, perfectly blending a lush, plant-filled interior with warm wooden accents. From the thoughtful welcome pour to the genuinely kind and helpful staff, I always feel like a valued guest the moment I walk through the door. It's also impressively family-friendly. I often have my girls with me, and it's common to see strollers and little ones throughout the space. The charcuterie and cheese plates are both generous and delicious. I especially appreciate that they offer high-quality gluten-free crackers as a substitute for bread. It's a 10/10 experience every time, and I couldn't recommend them enough!”
“Fabulous venue - lots of windows for natural light, space between tables so even when it’s busy it never feels crowded, and has a modern industrial yet warm feel. The wines are delicious with something for everyone from sweet to bone dry. The experience is lovely. The staff are knowledgeable and kind. Don’t be surprised if your server greets you with a tasting. Ask questions of you have them. The staff are very helpful and you can even get a small taste before ordering a full glass if you are torn between an old favorite and a new wine. Only downside is parking can be a little challenging though I’ve never not found a spot on the street or the lot behind the building. Don’t let it dissuade you.”
“Fantastic wine, winery, and tasting room! We used them for our wedding reception/party this October and guests absolutely loved the wines including some reds, whites, and a sparkling rose. Prices are spot on for the quality and we always enjoy visiting. Special thanks to Brittany Weeks who always goes out of her way to welcome us and provides the most fantastic service. Thank you LR!”
“We really enjoyed our stop at Living Roots (Urban Winery). Nestled in an area with some restaurants and local breweries, this was our favorite stop during our trip. The architecture of the building is cool, the staff was excellent and the wines we had were great (Nero)! The do not have a full menu, but did offer snacks. The popcorn and chips were both good. The bread was top notch and worth the trip alone lol! The layout is inviting we an "L" shaped bar area and plenty of tables. We also noticed a small private room they must have available for special events too. We did like the vibe and would definitely stop again when we are back in the area! HINT: Note that you do need a code to the door for the bathroom which was spacious and very clean.”
