15 years after the birth of the Lonesome Dove, chef Tim Love opened his second flagship, Lonesome Dove Austin. Located on Colorado Street in downtown Austin, it highlights both new and classic chef Tim Love dishes. Chef Love has designed a menu influenced by the ingredients, traditions, and cultures that have been part of the West since the first adventure began on the Goodnight-Loving and Chisholm Trails—with an added level of modern sophistication. Lonesome Dove Austin features both classic and new tastes, with Austin-inspired dishes that showcase Love’s creative use of bold flavors, wild game, and signature wood-fired cooking techniques alongside a diverse wine program. The menu is divided into several sections, beginning with Love’s proprietary Wild Game Fettine. It features a selection of choice cuts spit-roasted over open mesquite fire, such as DUCK, RABBIT-RATTLESNAKE SAUSAGE, PISTACHIOS, and QUINCE; ELK, PORK SPINALIS, HUCKLEBERRIES, and BLACK GARLIC; and LAMB, QUAIL, TEXAS HERBS, and CITRUS-CHILI PASTE.
“Had such a wonderful experience at Lonesome Dove! The service was excellent from start to finish. Great customer service from Pauly and our bartender, Rachel, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She gave great recommendations, and everything she suggested was spot on. The elk sliders were absolutely delicious, and the drinks were perfectly crafted. Great atmosphere, amazing food, and exceptional hospitality. I’ll definitely be back!”
“This was our first visit to the Lonesome Dove and I will definitely be returning and recommending it to anyone in the Austin area. Mark was our waiter and he provided a great experience for us. He was very personable and informative. He walked us through the menu and gave great advice on dinner choices. The menu is so fresh and different from other restaurants in the area. We had the stuffed beef tenderloin for our main course and it was one of the most amazing cuts of meats I’ve eaten. The espresso crème brûlée was wonderful and a great way to top off all amazing dinner.”
“Cool atmosphere with wild game trophies, antlers, and rawhide chairs. We hade the trio fettine, special blue crab dip, scallops, and gulf redfish. Everything tasted great! Service was very attentive, but restaurant was also not busy at all.”
“10/10 Highly recommend. Really great and accommodating service. They didn't have a changing table so they set something up in a room and noticed that I was sharing my steak with the baby so they offered to cut a portion to cook hers well done while I had blue rare. The food was phenomenal, highly recommend the Elk Loin and dry aged ribeye. The only thing I wouldnt order again is the Fettine. The brussel sprouts are perfectly smoky. Our friends raved about the churros. All of the cocktails and after dinner coffees were a great finish to the meal. The bread pudding was good but not exceptional. I wish I had gotten more photos but we were all so excited to try everything! Will definitely visit again.”
“Everything we had was amazing. Rachel our waitress was great, the somm had a wonderful zinfandel recommendation. The food, my God. The bison ribeye might be able to convert a vegetarian into a carnivore. Also pictured are elk sliders (ok), the prosciutto like meats (good), the beef marrow (very good), and the elk loin (would've been amazing if we didn't get the bison ribeye which caused everything to pale in comparison). In total spent about $400 on food&wine”
