MIXTLI MEESH-LEE, MIX-TLI / has the variant form MEX-TLI: Aztec spoken word for cloud. THE CLOUD To define Mexican cuisine is impossible. Mexico is as diverse as it is vast. Within its borders lie rocky mountains, humid jungles, arid deserts, and endless coasts: a stark diversity that forced each region to develop uniquely rich cultural and culinary histories. Like clouds, our menu travels from place to place offering a tour in Mexican gastronomy. If the state has a border with the ocean, we start our trek on the coast and work inland, bringing dishes specifically from that region or state. After each season, the cloud travels to other lands and we begin again. It is our mission that you fall in love with Mexico.
“We celebrated our anniversary at Mixtili with the nine-course Mexican Pacific menu. The menu rotates every few months, and the chef who made the dish explained each course as it was delivered. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time, so I tried the Mixtli Margarita in the Bar at Mixtili. It was absolutely fantastic—probably the best I’ve had. The ambiance, food, drinks, and service were all excellent and very thoughtful. It was a memorable experience, and we look forward to returning.”
“Wow, just wow! Those of us fr CA have our preconceived notions of what Mexican food is and how Tex-Mex (or any Mexican food in TX) just isn't the same...or right. Well, colour me wrong. The dinner here at Mixtli took a few bites, but then I was suddenly convinced and overwhelmed by the soulfulness of their dishes. We were there for the spring La Vecindad menu. Each dish was explained by the way of its humble, storied origins that were now elevated and modernised into these perfect flavour bombs. It wasn't just the food. The entire staff was warm and welcoming; professional, yet approachable and kind. The ambiance was the same: warm and welcoming, yet chic and upscale. This is definitely worth a visit. Go if you can. To celebrate or to have an adult night out. They have a well-earned Michelin star...and they're a finalist for the 2026 James Beard award for Outstanding Restaurant (to be awarded in June).”
“Not many true “fine dining” restaurants in San Antonio or Texas as matter of fact, however it is nice to come across one. Here, Mexican cuisine is elevated through simplicity and local traditions throughout the regions of Mexico. it’s a very good restaurant in its category, worth a stop.”
“Dinner at Mixtli was amazing! The entire staff really went out of their way to make our 40th anniversary celebration extra special. Everyone share unique pieces of information about the restaurants history and the stories they were telling with each presented dish. Each staff member added details about the ingredients in each dish, what they loved about it and how best to eat it. The Sommelier, Hailey added a tremendous depth to our understanding of the wines being presented with each dish. We shared that we had lived in Italy and had spent time visiting many vineyards. We really felt like she went out of her way to further explain details about the grapes. The history of the region the grape was from (super fascinating) and why she choose that particular bottle to go with each food item. Spot on perfect pairings! The attention to every detail thought out the meal really heightened the enjoyment of the meal. We highly recommend the Chef’s tasting and wine pairing when you dine at Mixtli!”
“Made reservations over a month in advance as was excited to finally come for dinner. It's a Michelin-starred restaurant with limited seating, so reservations are required. The menu is set, but changes seasonally, so you'll never have the same experience. Each dish is served with a story of the inspiration behind the dish. As soon as you walk through the door, the journey begins. Everyone who works there ensures you have an amazing experience. We were primarily hosted by Cristian, who was outstanding, but every chef, sommelier, server, etc... who stopped by had the same commitment to your experience. Of course being a Michelin-starred restaurant, the food was top notch. There were about 8 courses which we added the wine and cocktail pairings. Besides the flavors of the food and drinks, the story behind all of them completed the experience. I highly recommend Mixtli for the food, drinks, service, and overall experience.”
