“Decided to go to modern on the rails for date night as was recommended by a friend of mine. The place was amazing. Nothing but amazing and excellent things to say. Not good or great but EXCELLENT and AMAZING. from the moment we were greated by the hostess to the moment we left. We orderd the classic calamari which was fantastic it wasn't rubbery like you get at most places and the mussels marina was excellent. For our entrees we had the brazino fish which my wife loved it was cooked to perfection abscess wasn't heavy at all. The grill veggies that came with it had the perfect char on them. I had the pork ossso bunch over risotto which I was reluctant to try but I'm glad I did. The pork shanks was a generous portion as well as delicious and presented in an elegant way over the wild mushroom risotto. When I go out in westchester again this is going to be one of the places I would go back to over and over again. Thank you modern on the rails! Also plenty of easy parking. We didn't get desert or coffee so I can't comment on that.”
“We were able to snag a table for two at the last minute with the help of a very accommodating hostess. We spent 10 minutes waiting at the bar, where the bartender was quick, efficient and friendly. Our table was a cozy (not cramped) corner booth for two and the seating was very comfy. Laraine was our sever and she was great. Attentive without intruding. Quick without being frantic. Excellent excellent service. The food was delicious and served hot. There is nothing that we would change about our visit except we should have tried this restaurant sooner!”
“Modern on the Rails is a solid dinner spot. It’s a great location and the ambiance/decor is a total vibe. It’s definitely got an upscale feel, while also not being stuffy or fancy. You could easily go here for dinner in jeans and not feel out of place, but also if you wanted to dress up for a date night or special occasion, it would also be appropriate. The space is also really nice and is a good option if you were having a larger group or wanted to do a celebratory meal. The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is solid and the price is reasonable for what you are getting. They brought over bread to start and the bread was nice and warm. We started with the burrata app which weirdly came with 3 pieces of medium bread (same as the basket, but toasted or grilled). It felt like it should have been smaller crostini type bread and also more pieces given the app, but it didn’t matter because we had the warm bread basket. The app itself was nice, but not overly special. For dinner we had the burger and the squid ink pasta with salmon. The burger was good, but the sweet potato fries needed any kind of seasoning, even salt. The pasta was the best dish of the night. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the sauce was delicious and the pasta was great. Overall, I would definitely come back here again. It’s a nice spot with reasonable prices, great ambiance and service, and the food is solid.”
“Disappointed by the food, it's very average and definitely not original. The Branzono I ordered did not taste really fresh. The server wasn't particularly friendly and insisted too heavily on the fact that we skipped apetizers. It was embarrassing in front of our friends. The place looks nice We won't be back. .”
“Horrible experience at the brunch buffet this afternoon. To charge a child $18 that barely ate anything is ridiculous. $37 per head for a mediocre spread of items that had been sitting out for hours without being refreshed or replaced isn’t good. Waffles were rock hard. Pizza was stale. Minimal spread of food that was unappealing & unappetizing. Very disappointed! The buffet used to be a lot better years ago. Do better management!! Way too expensive.”
