“An absolutely exceptional dining experience at Solare Ristorante! We started with the Tuscan Pici Pasta, and I have to say — it was even better than my grandmother’s recipe, and she was 100% Italian! Rich, authentic, and perfectly prepared. The La Parmigiana was hands down the best eggplant parmesan I have ever had. The sauce was incredibly flavorful — perfectly balanced — with just the right amount of cheese to complement, not overpower, the dish. And the desserts… wow. The tiramisu was the best I’ve ever tasted, beautifully and creatively presented in a small flower pot — elegant and memorable. We also enjoyed dark chocolate slices with almonds and pistachios, accompanied by gelato and accented with homemade mango and raspberry sauces that elevated every bite. The service was equally impressive — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. If you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine with outstanding flavors, beautiful presentation, and exceptional hospitality, Solare is a must-visit. We will absolutely be back!”
“Excellent Italian dinner at Solare Ristorante in Liberty Station! The food was fantastic, we had the spiny lobster fettuccine all’Aragosta and risotto tartufo e capesante (scallop risotto with black truffle) and it blew us away. The cocktails were also very yummy; we had the Italian lemon drop and Manhattan alla monarca. Great service, friendly and attentive. Dog friendly outdoor patio. Recommend!”
“We've eaten here several times since moving here and it's a great restaurant. Nice atmosphere and great menu. It's fun to come early and sit at the bar before dinner.”
“Thank you so much Solare Ristorante. My dad, sister, and I sincerely received a wonderful experience here. Our soul and stomach were filled with warmth and joy. We had gotten the following dishes for us three to share *Fettuccine all’Aragosta *Frittura di Pesce all’Italiana *Ravioli di Ricotta e Spinaci *Risotto Tartufo e Capesante *Pear & Gorgonzola - we saved a few slices for Mom and brother All the pastas are handmade well. I would describe it as good food from another home that I never knew I have had. The ingredients are fresh and indeed chosen for their quality. The staff here were very kind and attentive to our needs: quick to provide us with high quality service. Prior to coming here, we had made a reservation for 2:46 pm on OpenTable thanks to the Chase Sapphire card benefits. We were immediately welcomed and recognized. Everything from the seating to the ways in which the utensils are laid out are done with great care. The sun streams in at such a nice angle where we were seated too. We weren’t able to provide tip just with our current budgeting, and I take all the blame! Yet, I sincerely hope that this review can hold me accountable to return again to show proper gratitude for all the people here. Thank you all for your service and this space that you create for people. A huge shout out to Alice for being A Wonderful server for us - we were so honored. Wonderful for all occasions, especially special occasions. God bless you all!”
“We had a special date night while staying in San Diego and were told this is the best Italian in the area. I will say the liberty area was very cool and had a unique vibe. The restaurant itself was very quaint and cozy. What held this back from being a 5 star experience was that the food was not particularly memorable. It was good, tasty even, but this wasn’t something I would say was craveable. I had the ossobuco and my wife had the sea bass. We each had a drink and for dessert we polished off a tiramisu. Again, it was a very decent meal, but compared to some of the places we stumbled on while we were there, this particular venue just didn’t justify the accolades we had heard. Now, I will say that the pizza looked amazing and they make all of their gluten free bread in house. My wife, who has celiac, very much appreciated this and I can attest that the bread was some of the best we have ever had. I imagine the pizza would also be absolutely exquisite, so maybe that is where a 5 star experience lies. We will try it again in the future and if you need a safe Italian restaurant in a very cool area, this is a great location.”
