“My fiancé and I really enjoyed this restaurant! The quality of the food was superb and the service was also excellent. We shared the crispy octopus for our appraiser, then for our meals, I had the duck pasta and my fiancé had the gnocchi. We also shared the dessert trio, all of which was delicious. I would absolutely recommend this place for anyone looking for a more upscale meal in La Jolla!”

“This was a very pleasant, Italian dining experience. My friend and I had some delicious wine, salad (green salad), and pastas (the duck pasta and beef ziti pasta). It was filling and enjoyable; we had no complaints. The service was also helpful and friendly. For a rooftop restaurant with food of this quality, I think the pricing was justified, especially if you time it just right for a sunset. I would definitely return.”

“I was in town for a week and gave Catania a try. I enjoyed my first visit so much I went back again a few nights later! I scored a counter seat that looks to the west. Great spot to take in a sunset or approaching sunset. On my first visit I started with the Crispy Octopus and then moved on to the Duck Sugo Orecchiette. Both were fantastic. On the next visit I started with the Grilled Prawns and then went with the Ziti Alla Genovese. Again, both were very good. If my travels take me back to La Jolla I will certainly try to make time to visit again.”

“Catania in La Jolla was a great experience all around. I really appreciated that they had veggie options that were easy to make vegan. The kitchen was happy to work with me and put together a spicy veggie vegan pasta using in season vegetables, and it tasted great. Fresh, well balanced, and exactly what I was hoping for. The rosé was fine, and the wine and drink selection overall was strong with plenty of good choices. My date ordered the duck ragu and said it was awesome, rich and full of flavor. The atmosphere really stood out. Very inviting, romantic, and just a great place to settle in and enjoy the evening. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made everything feel smooth and unhurried. Between the food, drinks, service, and vibe, this place checks a lot of boxes. I would definitely go back.”

“I visited tonight and was disappointed. The pasta was average, but the pizza was completely burnt and bitter. The staff tried to justify the char because of the wood-fired oven, but it does not make sense to serve a customer pizza that is that burnt and bitter. Although they eventually took it off the bill, the server was not friendly and the food was below average”
