“Moon Palace is a hidden gem for authentic Cantonese food in downtown Toronto. Everything tasted extremely fresh and well-executed, and our table had zero misses. Best Cantonese meal I’ve had in Canada! Highlights: the Typhoon Shelter Lobster was packed with wok aroma and crispy garlic, the steamed live grouper was perfectly cooked and very clean-tasting, and the free-range chicken was flavourful with that amazing ginger-scallion oil. We also loved the lobster pumpkin soup, surprisingly balanced and comforting. Service was warm and attentive, especially William who made great recommendations and checked in at the right times. Modern, bright space inside Atrium On Bay—super convenient after shopping. I’ll definitely be back.”
“Been here a few time and felt so so, not a fan of some over hyped dishes. But recent visit is great. The pumpkin soup and pan pried chicken with chestnuts are both top-notch. I think they may have trimmed down the menu size and focused on higher quality food ingredients. That’s the right way to go! Keep up the good work and would be happy to visit. Service is pretty good.”
“Wanted to find a new place for dinner as I was downtown and chose Moon Palace located in Atrium at Bay. We had Dim Sum, Cantonese Chow Mein, Chicken Fried Rice and Beef Tenderloin Chinese Style. The food was excellent, the service was good and the ambience was so-so. When the Cantonese Chow mein was delivered to our table another group was so impressed with the presentation, they ordered it. The Chow mein had beef, chicken, sea scallops, jumbo shrimps and succulent mushroom with snap peas, broccoli and carrots. Best Cantonese chow mein I've had. Good place to go after the theatre. The portions sizes are large. Our leftovers were split into two carry out bags. The food is tasty for sure.”
“Likes: - Nice decor and ambiance - Comfortable booth seating for four people - Dim sum dishes tasted good; daikon cakes had big chunks of daikon, spare rib pieces had a great balance of meat and fat, the sauces for curry cuttlefish and chicken feet were authentic - waiters were courteous Dislikes: - Would have liked to see it noted on the dim sum order sheet that peanuts were served together with chicken feet, which is a first for me. My friend is allergic to nuts and was surprised to discover the peanuts at the very bottom of the dish. After notifying the waitress, we were told to inform them of allergies from the onset... hence one star removed. - Although the sauce for the curry cuttlefish was delicious, the cuttlefish was steamed for too long making them too hard and chewy. P.S. This is an XL item ($12).”
“I originally went to this restaurant to get Dim Sum as it was advertised as all-day dim sum but upon arriving, we only had menus with regular Chinese dishes in it. After asking the waitress, she told us that dim sum had ended at 7:30pm. We arrived just after 7pm so it made sense. However, I was hoping it was a little more clear to customers that dim sum service ended at 7:30pm. Next time we plan to go earlier, but it was unfortunate we could not have that option. Their regular dinner menus were not bad but nothing amazing. Their deep fried foods were too oily and their rice was a little dry. Garlic Spare Ribs did not have much meat on them but were tasty. The jumbo scallops and shrimp were delicious but very few were given (despite being the most expensive dish we ordered). Their prices are very high, as expected but unfortunately the quality of the food was not up to standard with the prices. The servers are very nice! They are very welcoming, scoop rice into bowls for you, put your leftovers into a container for you, and come by around the table often in case you need anything. I will likely only visit this restaurant again for dim sum.”
