Opened in August 2007, this spacious pan-Asian eatery in the center of Streeterville is close to everything you need: right next door to the AMC Theatres and walking distance from Navy Pier and Magnificent Mile. Niu's fluid, sexy, casually luxurious dining room can accommodate up to 225 guests, so large parties are definitely welcome. Our inventive menu blends Sushi, Japanese, Thai, Korean, and Chinese influences: little bites of modern Tokyo, Bangkok, and Shanghai, all blended in with the energy of Chicago.
“Absolutely fantastic experience! The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ramens were perfectly cooked, and every dish tasted authentic and made with care. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Chicago.”
“Visited for dinner during a conference. The restaurant decor is upscale, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, and it’s easy to talk. It’s popular but took less than 10 minutes to be seated. The wait staff was great—very attentive, friendly, and answered all my questions. I had the Takoyaki appetizer, the Teriyaki Steak entree, mochi for dessert, and to drink, the Lychee Sling (non-alcoholic). All of the food was cooked perfectly, well-seasoned, and really interesting. A very enjoyable experience!”
“I had an amazing experience at Niu Japanese Fusion Lounge! I ordered the spicy miso ramen, fried egg rolls, yellowtail as an appetizer, and some dumplings — everything was absolutely delicious. The spicy miso ramen was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat. The yellowtail appetizer was incredibly fresh and melted in your mouth. The dumplings were tender and well-seasoned, and the fried egg rolls were crispy and satisfying. And honestly, nothing goes wrong with a Sapporo to complete the meal — it paired perfectly with everything. The atmosphere is great — stylish, comfortable, and perfect for both a relaxed dinner or a night out. Overall, an excellent dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!”
“decided to try this place out before going next door to watch a movie. the ramen was just okay, but the sushi was good. the hamachi crudo was probably my favorite item of the night, it was really fresh. the roll was delicious too with a pretty decent portion of fish. service was nice and everything came out really fast”
“Sooo Niu Japanese Fusion Lounge was a great find in the city! We made reservations, so there was no wait, which was a plus. The restaurant has a low-lit ambiance. The design itself isn’t anything too standout, but I always appreciate being able to see into an open kitchen. Our server was helpful with the menu and the food came out quickly. Everything was made as expected and tasted good. Nothing really wowed me, but I’m pretty picky when it comes to sushi. Overall, it was a solid spot and I’d definitely return.”
