The Anast/Koutsantonis family started Olympia Pizza in 1968 on Bernard Avenue offering delicious pizza and pasta. In 1973 they realized the need to expand to Rutland, and have been in the same location ever since. Since those humble beginnings, our menu choices have changed dramatically but our commitment to quality, freshness and great taste has not. In 1996, we underwent a major renovation transforming the "old blue and white" restaurant intoa Mediterranean paradise. At the same time, our menu also had a major overhaul. The result,Olympia Greek Taverna; whole new look, whole new cuisine. In 2020, Olympia Greek Taverna faced adversity with an electrical fire that tragically destroyed the restaurant. Undeterred, the resilient spirit of brothers Mike and Chris Koutsantonis prevailed, and Olympia has since risen from the ashes, with rebuilt determination and optimism. Now, with a renewed commitment to our patrons, Olympia eagerly anticipates the opportunity to once again serve the community, inviting guests to experience the reimagined and resilient flavours that define this cherished Greek establishment.
“Went for a date night. Our server was excellent, and so attentive. We had the seafood platter for 2 and it was SO much food. There’s no way you could leave here hungry. The seafood was all cooked perfectly and everything tasted amazing! I grew up on an Island eating seafood, and I’m very picky. So to actually have salmon and prawns that were cooked properly was a nice surprise. Absolutely great value for your money. 10 out of 10. Go here, and get the seafood platter, you will not be disappointed! Ps. Their sangria was also delicious.”
“We visited Olympia Greek Taverna on Hwy 33 for Taste of Kelowna and absolutely loved our meal. I ordered the Kleftico dinner — a slow‑roasted shoulder of lamb — and it was excellent. Tender, flavourful, and authentically prepared, it reminded me of meals we’ve had in Greece. The atmosphere in the restaurant added to that feeling too: warm, inviting, and full of that cozy, local‑taverna charm. For dessert, I had the Ekmek, described as a “toasted honey syrup base, with custard topped with whipped cream, almonds and cinnamon,” and it was incredible. I could have easily eaten three of them. Overall, a fantastic experience. I’d definitely return.”
“Stepping through the doors you are taking a wonderful roadtrip to the Mediterranean. The atmosphere is upbeat and comfortable. The lighting is warm. Service arrives fast and is attentive but not lingering. We were in at show time as there was a belly dancer that performed across the restaurant, but gave a comfortable space to diners. Get the large greek salad not the small, seriously the upgrade to the Macedonian feta will change everything you know about feta, so delicious. Make sure to grab a block of cheese on your way out. Saganaki is as per tradition flambé tableside. It does not come with any pita bread so unless you like eating melted cheese straight out the pan put an order in. Mains come out in big fashion, the size of the portions are hefty. Meat is tender and sliding off the bone. The beef brizola is immensely flavorful with the dry age and cooked beautifully. The surprise gift desert at the end was a polished finish to a wonderful dinner. Will recommend and will make a return next time im in Kelowna. Dont ever stop making that Brizola.”
“We had a fantastic Greek meal here for a special occasion! The restaurant itself has a very nice atmosphere/apperance and the food was AMAZING! We haven't stopped talking about it since! We had feta fries (with extra feta and side tzatziki) & Greek sausage (with side meatballs) to start and both were outstanding in flavor and portion size. Then for both entrees we got a beloved Greek favorite - Kleftiko... And it did not disappoint, having had this many times in Greece before! The lamb was so tender and flavorful, utterly delicious. The side rice and potatoes were very authentic also and super tasty. We were absolutely stuffed by the end but went home with very satisfied tummies! There was a slight mix up with our entrees being ordered in the kitchen, however this worked out in our favour since it ticked over to happy hour (after 9pm) by the time we got them and meant we got a discount. The restaurant also offered a free desert for the delay, but we were too full hahaha! Thanks Olympia - we will definitely be back!!”
“WAS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Came here with a girlfriend for a girl's trip to Kelowna and we decided to stop by. The service was a bit slow in the beginning (which is a given since it was pretty busy), but our server made up for it by the end of our dinner! She was very attentive and so friendly. As for our meal, it was spectacular. The pita bread came out piping hot and it was so fluffy and soft. The dips were fantastic as well. We decided to go for the beef and shrimp AND chicken souvlaki meal and they were both so fantastic. As for dessert, I totally forgot the name, but it was the best part of our night. So cinnamon-y and not too sweet, I really enjoyed the toasted almonds on top. Would 100% come back again and recommend! By the way, they also had a belly dancer which was super cool!”
