“This was an exceptional brunch experience. The service was attentive and warm. Food was all well prepared and delicious. Rave reviews for the non-alcoholic cocktails as well. The space itself is beautiful and it is such a treat to have this in place of a empty building on the corner of 30th and University. We'll definitely be back to give dinner a shot.”

“First time dining at Alouest and the food did not disappoint. We ordered the black cod, ravioli, and tuna every dish had such a great balance of flavors, spices, and ingredients that paired perfectly together. You can really tell a lot of thought goes into each plate. For dessert, we tried the banana mousse with banana pearls. It was good and still delicious overall, but I do wish it had actual banana slices or pieces for a little more texture and flavor. Overall, such a great experience and I would definitely come back again.”

“Made a 6 PM reservation through OpenTable and ended up running about 15 minutes late thanks to the usual North Park parking struggle. There wasn’t a phone number listed on Yelp to call ahead, and when we arrived, they had just given up our table right at that 15-minute mark. That said, the staff handled it well and quickly worked to get us seated at the next available table, which we appreciated. While we waited, they sent us upstairs to Georgette for a drink. That space is a whole vibe. Super moody, dim lighting, great cocktail and liquor selection. Only downside was timing. It took about 10 minutes to get our drinks, and right after they arrived, we were told our table was ready. We weren’t allowed to bring the drinks downstairs, and a few minutes later we were asked to head down, so we basically had to rush through them. That part felt a little disjointed and could definitely be handled better. Once seated, everything picked up. Our server, Alana, was fantastic. Attentive, friendly, and gave really great recommendations. Food highlights: • Ravioles du Dauphiné: 24 little squares perfect for sharing and packed with flavor. • Grilled Beets: not usually a beet person, but this dish completely changed my mind. Really unique and well executed. • Confit Pork Shank: super tender, falling right off the bone. Overall, great service, delicious food, and a really charming space with both indoor and outdoor seating. A couple of logistical hiccups, but nothing that would stop me from coming back.”

“Where do I even begin—this place truly exceeded expectations from start to finish. Every single item we ordered was absolutely phenomenal, and it just kept getting better with each course. You can immediately tell that a lot of thought, technique, and care goes into every dish. The flavors were layered, well-balanced, and executed beautifully, with that perfect mix of classic French influence and a fresh, modern touch. What really stood out was the consistency—there wasn’t a single dish that fell short. From the presentation to the taste, everything felt intentional and elevated without being pretentious. Our server was incredibly attentive without ever feeling intrusive, and took the time to walk us through the menu in a way that was both informative and engaging. You could tell he was genuinely passionate about the food, which made a huge difference. He offered thoughtful recommendations, answered questions with confidence, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. The overall atmosphere tied everything together perfectly—warm, inviting, and ideal for anything from a special occasion to just a really great night out. It’s not always easy to find a place that delivers both exceptional food and equally strong service, but this restaurant absolutely nails both. This is easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in North Park, and I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.”

“Excellent dinner at À L’ouest. Beautiful room, great energy, and truly outstanding service from Tommy and his assistants. He guided us through the menu perfectly, and the manager also stopped by to check on us, which was a nice touch. Best dishes for us were the pommes paillasson with caviar and dill, the grilled beets with black garlic, the black cod brochette with saffron bomba rice, and especially the French onion soup with oxtail, which was surprisingly rich and delicious. We also had the wagyu eye of ribeye special with frites. The steak was a little underwhelming compared with the rest of the meal, but still very good. The cocktails were excellent too, and I loved both my first drink and the absinthe. We spent over two hours there and had a great time the entire night. A very strong addition to San Diego’s dining scene.”
