“Baroo was one of the more memorable fine-dining meals I’ve had in LA recently. The cooking feels thoughtful, delicate, and very personal, with Korean flavors presented in a way that still feels ingredient-driven rather than overly conceptual. The strongest dishes for me were the seafood soup, the Brandt beef short rib, and especially the rice/noodle elements with roasted seaweed — those had real depth, comfort, and texture. The $140 tasting menu also felt reasonable for the level of cooking and care. My only critique is that the menu progression could be tighter. Some of the earlier appetizer-style courses felt a bit scattered and less compelling than the stronger main courses, and the portions lean slightly light. But overall, the meal stayed with me, and I’d still comfortably give it five stars.”

The tasting menu delivered dishes that were inspired, thoughtful, and tasty 😋 Every dish was presented beautifully. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The Korean Fried Chicken, Sometimes Nomadic, and Wait for Another with Doubt were my faves. @liv_beautifulee said the food reminded her of her childhood and was therapeutic ☺️”

“What a wonderful experience! We did the tasting menu with the Korean sool/wine pairing. It was perfect. Each staff member was very knowledgeable, kind, and prompt with each course. The pace was just right, along with the flavors of each dish and pairing being so thoughtfully crafted. If you're a fan of Korean cuisine and open to traditional flavors with a twist, I would highly recommend trying Baroo. A special 'thank you' for the extra care in my dietary restrictions, and making it so I didn't feel like I was "missing out" on anything. I would love to go again and try more things on the menu!”

The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and you can tell they genuinely care about the details. Every dish was explained with intention, which made the whole experience feel even more curated. Now, the food this is where Baroo really stands out. It’s not traditional Korean in the expected sense, but rather a creative, modern interpretation. Each dish felt innovative and surprising, yet still deeply rooted in flavor. The combinations were unique, sometimes unexpected, but everything worked beautifully. Presentation was stunning almost like edible art. Every plate felt carefully composed, from textures to colors, making it as visually exciting as it was delicious. Standout for me was how balanced everything tasted nothing was overpowering, just layers of flavor that kept evolving with every bite. If you’re looking for a classic Korean meal, this might not be it. But if you’re open to a refined, high-end, and creative take on Korean-inspired cuisine, Baroo is absolutely worth it. Definitely a spot for a special night or when you want something memorable.”

“Such a fun night, tentative and wonderful staff, beautiful details in every corner. The food for the price was ok. We came hungry, ordered the buckwheat noodles as well, which was an additional $25, but left still wanting a little bit more. The flavour of the main dishes (pork and ribeye) were 5 stars. The smaller courses were a range of 3-5 stars in flavour.”
