From the Pretty Decent Concepts team comes Filthy Animal. Elegant and wild, this concept is inspired by the beauty and brutality of the jungle. Featuring a wood fire cooking pit as the focal point of the restaurant, this concept is delivering a dining experience like no other in Arizona.
“The service and atmosphere are literally top tier! The food was delicious, just not a lot called to me personally in terms of main menu items, but I'm sure that's a me thing - I would 100% recommend everyone try it out as long as they're okay with the price since it's definitely more upscale. Business Casual is the dress code, but everyone was hella fresh so my personal recommendation would be to dress up that extra bit. We shared a steak (our first dry-aged steak), and it was a little tough but extremely flavorful, especially with that chimichurri (LOVE!) and garlic-whipped potatoes (thanks to our phenomenal waiter for the recommendations on what to pick). I already said the service was top tier, but to circle back: one of the best customer service experiences I've had in Arizona between our very social waiter, a manager stopping by to ask how things tasted, folks bringing out the food coming back to double-check on things, as well as the smiles you get any time you make eye contact with any staff member! Thank you for letting us be filthy animals with you for the 4th of July weekend!”
“Such an amazing dinner experience at Filthy Animal! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with friendly smiles and outstanding service. Manager Devan personally escorted us to our table upon arrival. He was attentive, professional, and welcoming throughout the evening. He checked on our table at just the right times, making us feel genuinely valued without being intrusive, and truly went above and beyond to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. For starters, we ordered the Short Rib Pibil Dumplings, Tuna Pineapple Ceviche, and Kimchi Croquettes. The Pibil Dumplings were my favorite—they had the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. The roasted pineapple added a subtle sweetness that paired perfectly with the sesame sauce. The Cheddar & Kimchi Croquettes absolutely melted in my mouth, and the house red chili aioli served alongside added the perfect kick. For dinner, we ordered the 18oz Bone-In Ribeye and the Campfire Seabass, along with the Papas Asada. The ribeye was incredibly tender and seasoned to perfection, with rich wood-fired flavors. It was seriously one of the best steaks I’ve had in the Valley. My favorite part of the experience was dessert. The Miso Cheesecake is something you absolutely must try! It has rich umami flavors with the perfect touch of sweetness.”
“I invited my boo to Filthy Animal as a birthday treat. My boo deserves the best, so every year I scour Google Maps like a deranged tweaker looking for a new plug. This year, we landed on Filthy Animal, and let me tell you we were not disappointed. The atmosphere is really nice. It’s definitely upscale, but I wouldn’t go as far as calling it fine dining. You can show up looking cute, or you can pull up in jorts and survive the experience just fine. Our waiter was great, polite, attentive, and checked on us often without making us feel like we were under federal investigation. My boo ordered the ribeye and I went with the lamb chops. I had never had lamb chops before and boy let me tell ya, I understand the hype now. They were phenomenal. My boo’s steak was also cooked perfectly juicy, tender, and an absolute knee slapper. We started with the baked brie and bread, which was fantastic. Then, because self-control is a social construct, we ordered the dulce de leche cheesecake for dessert. Sweet mother of pearl, that thing was delicious. Needless to say, we left happy, full, and one step closer to needing stretchy pants. We’ll definitely be back.”
“This place is a total vibe. Felt like something you’d find in Vegas or South Beach and not in a college town but I’m here for it. It was busy and the energy was really fun and positive. The drinks were great but did not eat. However, the tomahawk steak on the way out looked incredible so I’m imagining what it tastes like. There is a speakeasy next door that you can get reservations for here and I’d recommend doing so. The bar/patio is excellent and the bartender Brenna was phenomenal. Super friendly made great recommendations.”
“Interesting experience for Pretty Decent Concepts. The fire theme is felt, smelled, and tasted from the minute you step in until your last bite. The atmosphere has so many thoughtful lighting and textures decisions. Creating a dynamic and dramatic dance between sophistication and feral nature. That being said, I've never been so hot in a restaurant. It was cooler outside at the end of May. It made it hard to enjoy the atmosphere. I left before I could order dessert due to being uncomfortable. Prepare to sweat. The food was phenomenal. Absolutely on point and exactly what I expect from an establishment like this. The Bone Marrow and the Brie was a great pairing. The bread had the Smokiest flavor I've ever had. My Campfire Seabass was the star of the show. Order it, you'll love it. Although, considering it was obviously plated with a front face in mind, this was not placed correctly at my table. The cocktails were balanced, if maybe a bit sweet. I recommend the Electric Pearade. I think the unfortunate part about my visit was the service. We weren't seen for so long that a manager brought us our water and put our cocktails in. Our server seemed disconnected from our experience and never stayed around long enough for us to communicate. The pacing wasn't great, I got my wine pairing fifteen minutes before my entrée. This felt like service I would expect at a lower price. TLDR: The food is worth the hot temperature and mid service. Get the Electric Pearade, Brie, and Seabass.”
