“I'm happy with the relaunch of Gemma. Disclosure: had my wedding at the hotel in 2019 and I've been to the rooftop a few times over the years. Honestly, in the past, it was all about the view, not the food. Last night was my first time visiting since the new menu and decor. I can now safely say it's about the view AND the food. Yes, it's not cheap, but I felt the food lived up to the expectations. We had the lobster, branzino, and salmon. Personally, I think this is a great place to celebrate an event, take business lunches or dinners, or take out of town friends to impress them with the view of the city.”
“Gemma Rooftop was such a vibe, delicious food, great cocktails, and honestly one of the best rooftop views in LA. Perfect spot for sunset dinner or late night drinks with the city lights all around. Definitely coming back 🍸”
“The view is amazing especially at the golden hour. We were offered a great seating for 2 persons even though the place was almost full. It gets chilly but they have heaters and provide blankets if you’re cold. The food is delicious, we’ve got shrimp & papaya salad (highly recommend), beef stir-fry and chicken makhani. Drinks are overpriced though!”
“It’s not my first time here, the hostess was nice and friendly. We didn’t have reservation, but she sat us at very nice table. View is great, but the 5oz pour of wine for $28… that what threw me off. I had 5 sips and mind you I’m skinny girl who needs maybe 1 to 2 glasses. To say I was shocked, I asked server and manager how is this can be a normal pour? Mind you I travel quite often to other states and I visited five star hotels to check it out their bars or restaurants, but this poor, just a rip off. I had two glasses of wine and burger. $99.00 So yeah be aware of what you get versus what you pay for it”
“I used to love this place and was excited to see the renovation, but I had one of the most uncomfortable experiences of my life. Around 4 p.m., while enjoying lunch alone, I removed my blazer and was abruptly told by the woman serving water that I would have to put it back on or leave. I always dress elegantly, and after visiting countless restaurants, including Michelin-starred ones, I have never experienced anything like this. I used to come here often before the renovation and even stayed at the hotel. I appreciate the manager’s apology and my waiter was very kind, but from the moment I arrived both the hostess and the woman involved were unfriendly. I was told the dining room was “busy” and was seated in the waiting area instead, despite several empty tables being available. Beautiful renovation, but unfortunately the level of hospitality has changed. No guest should be made to feel unwelcome or embarrassed for simply enjoying a quiet lunch alone.”
