“Great for people watching while having standard LA priced cocktails and eating above average food at even more above average pricing. For example, the side of corn was delicious but not $15 for a small cup size delicious. We had a drink at the bar before we sat down for dinner. It’s a cute bar area and they were showing the World Cup matches on the TVs. The bartender was a little rough around the edges, shaking his cocktail making cups pretty hard and banging them against the edge of the bar, which was pretty distracting while you’re having a conversation with someone. The drinks were good (although a heads up on a 30% up-charge for replacing tequila with mezcal would’ve been appreciated. What an annoying surprise on the bill), but we could do without the sound effects.”

“There’s something easy to like about The Hideaway before the food even hits the table. Sitting outside, you get a scene that feels current and social, but still comfortable enough to settle into for a full meal. The kitchen holds its own. A New York strip arrives with a proper sear and good depth of flavor, while the 6 oz filet mignon leans tender without losing character. The fish ceviche is a standout, bright and clean, lifted by a mango sauce that adds sweetness without overpowering the dish. The staff is also notably accommodating with modifications, which speaks to a flexible kitchen. Drinks are well-executed and worth ordering. Service shows the strain of a busy room, but it never slips into neglect. Even during peak moments, someone steps in to keep things on track. Overall, really strong across the board and worth going back.”

“We visited The Hideaway last night to celebrate our anniversary while on vacation in Los Angeles, and unfortunately had a very mixed experience. First, the positives: the restaurant itself is beautiful, with a really fun and inviting atmosphere. The food—especially the steak—was honestly some of the best we’ve ever had. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they’re putting out, and under normal circumstances this would have been a memorable night for all the right reasons. However, the experience was significantly impacted by a group seated next to us. It appeared to be four guys filming content with professional cameras, and they were extremely loud and disruptive throughout the evening. At one point, another couple even complained and asked to be moved inside. The group mentioned to staff that they had been invited by the restaurant to film a review, and from there things only escalated—constant shouting, over-the-top behavior, and making a spectacle of everything. They were ordering large amounts of food and drinks, loudly joking that it was “on the house,” and were even being served appetizers and drinks before our table, despite us ordering earlier. At one point, when the tableside cart came by, they were passing around the large butcher knife and taking photos with it, which felt completely inappropriate and uncomfortable in a dining setting. We spent around $300 for what was supposed to be a special anniversary dinner—something we don’t typically splurge on—and it was really disappointing to have the night overshadowed by what felt like a disruptive, staged production happening right next to us. I want to be clear that the food and the space itself are excellent. But the lack of management around that situation really took away from what should have been a special evening. I hope the restaurant considers how these types of experiences impact paying guests in the future.”
