Established in 1937, Le Veau d’Or reopens under neo-bistro extraordinaires, Chefs Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson. Le Veau d'Or serves a $145 prix-fixe dinner menu Tuesday - Saturday and an $85 prix-fixe lunch menu Tuesday - Friday. We can accommodate up to four people per reservation in our main dining room. Unfortunately, we don't push tables together for larger parties, but our private dining can seat up to 20 guests. Our bar is available for walk-ins where guests can enjoy lunch, dinner, or just a drink! Our intimate dining room means we are unable to adjust party sizes once a reservation is confirmed. Decreases in party size will be subject to a fee of $50/seat. Finally, as a courtesy to other guests, we kindly ask that you book reservation times when you can join us. If you have no intention of joining us at an available reservation time, please allow others the opportunity to book the reservation. Thank you for your consideration.
“One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Every bite was spectacular. The duck is most definitely worth booking a dinner reservation. On top of that, I don’t think I’ve ever had better service in my life, and I’ve had incredible servers in the past. But the way the staff worked as team was absolutely incredible. My favorite moment of the evening was our server pairing the best dessert wine with my ile flottante - a pairing I’m still thinking about weeks later. The city has some spectacular food, but I’d still return here every visit.”
“This place is a delight On the night after Dining at the Four Horseman I was fortunate enough to join friends here for dinner. I had the best server imaginable. The same person as last night! Moritz Kissinger Brut nature for starters! Staff there knew it was my bday, they treated me royally, I was moved by their graciousnes. Chef sent out loads of extra plates, delectable. It's a 4 course price fixe, we added frogs legs that arrived sizzling in a buttery gratin dish. The kitchen produced the classics with expertise and elan. Seamless, attentive and expert hospitality with bread and butter!”
“Le Veau d'Or was phenomenal from start to finish. The food and atmosphere were at the top of what you would expect from a rising NY star. We started with the escargot, which was perfectly prepared with a crunch that takes this French classic to a different level. The half chickeywa a large portion which was great for sharing. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Our only opportunity for improvement was that our server gave the vibe that she didn't want to be there. The warm, intimate atmosphere shows why Le Veau d'Or has such a strong reputation.”
“At Le Veau d’Or, this wasn’t just a meal it was a culinarily pilgrimage. The kind you build a day around, maybe even quietly justify a whole trip for. Some meals are convenient. This one required intention. A little planning, a little movement, a little luck with scoring a reservation. And the second you walk in, the intimate feel, red banquettes, and warm welcome makes you feel right at home. The déjeuner is $85 and reads like a tightly edited love letter to French classics. No fluff, no trends, just conviction. Escargots Provençale? Obviously. Oysters? Non negotiable. There’s something deeply satisfying about a menu that confidently serves tripe and calf’s liver. Then the mains. Steak frites if you’re leaning timeless. Duck confit if you’re leaning into the moment. Lobster salad if you want to pretend you’re being light. Everything lands with that effortless, practiced precision like it’s been done this way forever and sees no reason to change. And somewhere between the first bite and the last sip, it clicks: this is the highlight. Not just of the day, the trip. The meal you’ll keep referencing, the one that makes everything else feel like a prelude or an afterthought. It’s the kind of place worth going out of your way for, and then some. Special shout out to Liz for setting the gold standard for service.”
“For an $85 prix fixe lunch (2 courses, no dessert), this restaurant charges prices comparable to a Michelin-starred restaurant, but unfortunately the overall experience didn’t justify the cost. We visited for lunch, and the dining room was extremely noisy—we could barely hear each other throughout the meal. Our server seemed impatient and uninterested. When she brought us our bread, she simply pushed our phones aside instead of asking us to move them, which felt quite rude. We also waited over 30 minutes for our first course, which was just an omelette and a meat pie. We honestly couldn’t understand why such simple dishes took so long to prepare. Bring a jacket if you decide to come. The dining room was freezing, and we spent most of the meal feeling cold while waiting for our food. The food was good, but not memorable enough to justify the price. Considering the service, atmosphere, and long wait, we left feeling disappointed. There are plenty of restaurants in New York that offer a much better dining experience for the same price. I’d recommend saving your money and going somewhere else.”
