“If you’re looking for an unforgettable dining experience in New Orleans, Muriel’s Jackson Square is a must! From the moment the fresh-baked bread arrived, we knew we were in for something special. It was absolutely delicious and set the tone for the entire meal. My wife said the Cajun chicken noodle soup was the best she’d ever had, and my son thoroughly enjoyed the seafood gumbo. I started with the Wedge Salad, which featured one of the most incredible dressings I’ve ever tasted. For our entrées, my wife had the shrimp and grits, my son ordered the duck, and I had the redfish. Every single dish was outstanding and cooked to perfection. To finish the evening, my son and I enjoyed cappuccinos while my wife indulged in the crème brûlée, which was the perfect ending to an exceptional meal. The food, the atmosphere overlooking Jackson Square, and the impeccable service completely knocked our socks off. Muriel’s is a restaurant we’ll be talking about for a long time, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommended!”

“Gorgeous historic building overlooking Jackson Square adjacent to the cathedral. Creative modern take on a 300ish year-old building that has been upgraded and respects its heritage. While you will love its furnishings, you’re there for the food. Best described as contemporary creole it features classics like seafood gumbo, turtle soup, shrimp, and grits, and pain perdu bread pudding with candied pecans and rum sauce. They take a few non-NOLA risks, experimenting with things like lamb empanadas, strips of focaccia on the table in place of the local bread, and roasted cauliflower on red quinoa with a dukkah. Not necessarily what I would choose to eat there but they do execute everything perfectly. We went with blackened red fish with a red pepper cream sauce and a wood grilled double cut pork chop served with braised greens that I normally am not a fan of, but these were simply fantastic. The standout was a dark chocolate pecan tart featuring a brown sugar crust made with pecans and accompanied with salted caramel. Everyone at this level tries some kind of version of this style of dessert but here they knocked it out of the park. The staff is very friendly and professional, and the ambience is accessible. This place is popular, so make sure you get a reservation. Even if you get a really late reservation, do so but then roll the dice and show up an hour early and they will probably let you in. If they don’t, well, it’s the French Quarter and you’ll find something to buy your time. About two blocks over is our favorite jazz venue, Fritzel’s. A perfect place to get ready for dinner. Put this on your must try NOLA restaurants.”

“On a drive back from Florida to Texas, my daughter and I only had time for one night in New Orleans. The concierge at our hotel suggested Muriel’s and I am SO happy he did. I could tell you the service was attentive without being intrusive and that the ambience and decor were filled with details that made it all that much better. Both of those statements are true and yet, the food still manages to stand out as the star. We started with the goat cheese and shrimp crepes, which were beyond words delicious. My daughter had the filet because well, steak. I had the shrimp and grits. Born and raised in Massachusetts, grits have never been my favorite but if I could have finished the grits on my plate, I would have! They were so well-cooked and seasoned and just filled with love. We splurged for dessert too and both were delicious! (Yes we took home leftovers) If you’re in New Orleans and have the chance, don’t miss out on this gem. It was so well worth it and I hope to go back again!”

“Highly recommend making a reservation for Muriel's Jackson Square — this place gets busy fast. We ended up sitting at the bar and still had a wonderful experience. The drinks were excellent across the board: the Hurricane packed the right punch, The Saint 75 was refreshing and elegant, and even the Blackberry Basil Spritz mocktail was flavorful and well-balanced. The turtle soup with sherry was definitely an interesting experience and worth trying if you want something classic New Orleans. Food-wise, the shrimp and crepes were absolutely delicious. The pork chop with mashed potatoes and collard greens was excellently done — tender, flavorful, and comforting without feeling too heavy. Dessert closed the night on a strong note: the crème brûlée was rich and creamy with that perfect crack on top, while the chocolate pecan tart was a solid sweet finish. Definitely a spot worth visiting in the French Quarter.”

“We had reservations on a Wed evening at 7:15 for the "ghost table". We were promptly seated. We knew the story of the building and it's resident ghost(s) from our pub crawl tour (which was fun). The table is as described on Muriel's website, tucked into a corner by the staircase leading upstairs to the Seance Room. There was a place set for Mesuer Jordan, including a glass of red wine. We were respectful of this setting and did not disturb anything. We did notice the evaporation marks on his wine glass, not sure if that indicates that they reuse and refill the same glass day after day or if the wine had been sitting there for days (long enough to evaporate as much as the marks indicate). We had the scallops for the appetizer, absolutely delicious. I ordered the crab curry soup and hubby ordered the pear salad. Delicious! We both had the tenderloin fillet, and I can honestly say I have never had a steak so tender and delicious, almost a buttery consistency, soooo good. Our waitress was considerate and attentive, even the manager checked on us a few times. Now for the downside. As indicated on their website, the table is at the bottom of a stairway, and over the course of the almost 2 hrs we were seated, about 35-40 people, a couple at a time, walked through the area, some talking to us, others just quietly walking by. Also, the group 'tours' previously mentioned (pub crawl tour, ghost tour, vampire tour, etc) appeared at the door looking into the room, a group every 5-10 minutes, and they looked in and took pictures as their guide explained the history (and we ate our dinner). So, all in all, a unique and wonderful experience. But if anything spiritual was going to happen, I think it was just too busy and noisy (they had Gregorian chanting playing pretty loudly). But still recommend as a great dining experience!”
