Situated in Boston's vibrant Back Bay neighborhood, One Charles Street South is home to a modern Mediterranean eatery known as Ostra. Led by Chef/Owner Jamie Mammano and Executive Chef Mitchell Randall, our restaurant draws inspiration from the abundant seafood offerings of both local New England waters and the coastal regions of Europe. With a strong emphasis on specialty seafood sourced from the Mediterranean and various parts of the United States, our culinary creations showcase the natural essence and delightful flavors of each dish through their light preparation.
“A special visit, one to remember. 🤍 In my view, everyone who lives in Boston and likes good food should experience Ostra at least once. It’s now my new go-to restaurant locally. Very elegant setting, warm welcome, everything feels right. The food was amazing. Every dish is well composed, both visually and in flavor. It outshines many of the dining experiences we recently had in Paris. And, yes, I sent my compliments to the chef. Thank you! If I had to highlight just one dish, it’d be the Ricotta gnocchi with lobster, absolutely delicious… and, I don’t even order gnocchi (it was my son’s choice). Visit, you’ll love it!”
“Supurb seafood restaurant. We started with oysters, Pemaquids and Blish Points. We always enjoy Pemaquids but the Blish Points were new to us. The Blish may be our new favorite oyster, tiny but incredibly sweet. My next course was Rhode Island Calamari, very spicy but first rate. My main was the bream, it presents as a whole fish but in fact it was boned, excellent.”
“May 32, 2026. Excellent. Really enjoyed every dish. Oysters were great, very fresh. Blush point oysters were new to us, very good. Grilled octopus - excellent. Salmon was well prepared.”
“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Food, Exceptional Leadership The food at OSTRA was truly delicious. The Boston lobster for $135 was absolutely worth it — so much sweet, generous meat. But the real surprise star was the gnocchi with truffle — rich, aromatic, and perfectly executed. Service was excellent, especially from JJ (Juan), who took great care of us throughout the meal. What really impressed me, however, was Trevor. He came over personally to congratulate us on our honeymoon and surprised us with a complimentary dessert. Later, I noticed he was doing the same for many other tables — greeting guests, making everyone feel welcome, helping serve, and even pouring wine himself. That level of hands-on involvement says a lot. When I asked JJ, I learned Trevor is actually the General Manager. That was truly impressive. This is what real leadership looks like — present, humble, and service-driven. Management should pay close attention — he’s a keeper and deserves recognition (and a raise). We will definitely be back.”
“The food was excellent. Everything was delicious, and the staff were phenomenal. The fresh seafood and fish were the best. The menu is somewhat limited, so picky eaters might have a more difficult time with the menu. The only things that could have made the restaurant better were the price of the meals and cocktails. I understand a typical Boston Back Bay cocktail is around $18-24 now, and this was no different. The cocktails were good but not excellent. Finally what really bothered me was the noise. It was so loud that we had to shout to each other. We were seated at a four person square table with one person on each side - no more than 2 feet away from one another. This detracted from the meal significantly. The area near the bar/front entrance was quieter than the main dining room. We would go back but only for a special occasion and ideally off hours.”
