“Loved how they transformed this space! Formerly Commerson Restaurant is now part of the husband and wife team of restaurants in the 8th and La Brea corner. This would be their 5th and fanciest. Friendly and attentive service, well presented and very tasty dishes, price point on the high side as to be expected for a fancier experience, just a tad too dark, perfect for a date night, reservations a must as it has become quite trendy and popular.”
“La Brea's newest restaurant is a Thai-inspired Asian parlour. The moment you walk in you're taken away by the stunning bar and the warm intimate atmosphere with glowing lanterns on the ceiling. We ordered Mindy Lee's Matcha Martini (Vodka, Matcha, Yuzu foam) Hard to Get (vodka, gin, lime leaf, mint, habanero, passion fruit) the matcha martini was a crowd pleaser! For food we started with the scallop crudo 5/5, Garlic noodles with grilled salmon, tempura green bean fries, garlic green beans, roti with panang curry. Everything we had was delicious but the fan favorites were the scallop crudo & the roti with panang curry! Lastly, we ordered the deconstructed mango sticky rice and wow not only was this a burst of flavors but the presentation was a piece of art. Service was phenomenal, Will took care of us. Looking forward to coming back!”
“I went for dine LA. Very vibey inside with the mood lighting and general decor. Server was knowledgeable about the menu and gave good recs. Food-wise, it was all pretty good but average. The highlights were the roti with curry (wanted to dip everything in that sauce!), garlic noodles w chicken (chicken was juicy and well cooked), and the matcha donut. Skip the fried shrimp - all breading. The deconstructed mango sticky rice has great flavor but wasn’t substantial - although, if you’re looking for a light dessert, then that is the way to go.”
“Recently dined at The Night We Met and I’m still thinking about the delicious food! I visited with a large group to check out this new restaurant and it did not disappoint! Initially, we were going to order from the 3 course Dine LA menu, but realized it was actually cheaper to order from the regular menu. We had the whole fried branzino with a phenomenal basil sauce! This was our favorite dish - it was cooked to perfection and the sauce really took the plate over the top! 10/10 Spicy tuna crispy rice (7/10) Soft shell crab curry (7/10) Garlic noodles with grilled chicken (6/10) - the were a bit plain Hong Kong fried rice (8/10) Broccolini (6/10) Service was good, it took a while to get water but our food and drinks came out fairly fast! Cocktails were yummy as well! We were celebrating a birthday and were hoping the restaurant would do a complimentary desert or something similar as they did for another table but that didn’t happen. Overall had a nice night and will definitely visit again in the future.”
“It was pretty obvious they overbooked! call it double-booking, call it whatever you want. And honestly, that’s becoming way too common now. Restaurants get away with it, no consequences. Meanwhile, if we show up 15 minutes late, we’re the problem! we lose our table or get turned away. But when they mess up? We’re expected to just stand off to the side for 30–45 minutes like it’s normal. Our reservation was at 8:00pm I was running late I tried to modify to 8:30pm and they said we can not we can wait 15 minutes for you to get here otherwise we’re giving your ready table to someone else. So we speed 100 mph just to make it and we get there at 8:14pm I check in and they say please wait in this corner or by the bar while your table gets ready. IF THAT WAS THE CASE WHY LIE AND SAY YOUR TABLE IS READY? Why make me drive fast if you were over booked? We stood for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement and then I went to the bar to order 4 single drinks while we waited, we waited another 20 minutes and got seated at 8:50pm Outside, not the inside I requested. That said, I’ll be fair! the place is good. The food lives up to the hype, just like people say. The decor is beautiful, and those lanterns? Yeah, they nailed that vibe. But skip the bar. Seriously. Four drinks came out to $145 with tip, which is just wild. The menu is small, we ended up ordering pretty much everything just to try it all. Most of it was genuinely really good. But I’m not going to pretend it was perfect… one or two dishes felt like they came straight out of a Costco freezer and got microwaved. That’s the truth. Oh and ask for the Wagyu Burger, it was good but make sure they make it and bring it fast or your bottom bread is literally dipped in water. 💦 MOIST”
