Vola's Dockside Grill

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ While exploring Alexandria’s waterfront, we stopped for lunch at Vola’s Dockside Grill and it ended up being one of our favorite dining experiences of the trip. The location is hard to beat. We were seated on the outdoor patio right along the waterfront with beautiful views of the marina, boats, and the Potomac River. It was the perfect setting to relax, enjoy the weather, and watch the activity on the water while having lunch. We started with a selection of oysters on the half shell and were impressed with both the freshness and quality. The oysters were cold, clean, and flavorful, served with all the traditional accompaniments. For our main appetizer, we ordered the coconut shrimp, which was outstanding. The shrimp were large, perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, and paired with a delicious dipping sauce that complemented the sweetness of the coconut coating. To drink, I ordered a Bloody Mary that was every bit as good as the food. Nicely seasoned, refreshing, and garnished generously, it was the ideal waterfront cocktail. What really completed the experience was the service. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable without being intrusive. Food and drinks arrived promptly, and we never felt rushed despite the restaurant being busy. Vola’s combines fresh seafood, excellent cocktails, attentive service, and one of the best waterfront dining locations in Alexandria. Whether you’re looking for oysters, seafood, drinks with a view, or simply a relaxing place to enjoy the riverfront atmosphere, this is a spot that should be on your list. We’ll definitely be returning the next time we’re in Old Town Alexandria.”

“First, our server was AMAZING! Thank you Kia for your wonderful personality & recommendations during our whole brunch. It made the visit that much enjoyable. She recommended the monkey bread as a starter & it was SO good! Delicious for anyone who has a sweet tooth. The salmon as well was a recommendation from her & it was delicious & filling! My husband ordered the Crab Cake Benedict, delicious as well. We went for my husband’s birthday & it was his first visit. He received a nice chocolate cake at the end, we boxed half of it because we were extremely full after all the food. Again, thank you Kia for your service ❤️”

“This was the perfect place for a relaxing Monday afternoon! The berry sangria was phenomenal! The perfect blend of fruity and not overly sweet. My server Oliver was gorgeous and very polite. I loved that being a single patron I wasn’t rushed or neglected. My dog was able to dine with me in the beautiful outdoor seating area. I had a wonderful view of the potomac. The calamari and shrimp tacos were fabulous. I love this gem in old town and will be taking friends and family here in the future!”

“The restaurant lives up to their name with the high tide part! We were sat in one area and when the tide started coming we had to move to higher ground. That was fun to watch. The only reason I’m not giving it a 5 is they couldn’t get the margaritas right. We ordered light on the lime and sour and they kept adding onto much also we kept diluting them with club soda. Finally decided to just send the drink back and then the bartender got the message and the next drink was done the right way. The grilled shrimp were amazing!! The shrimp tacos and slaw was delicious and the chicken tenders were freshly made. The NY strip was okay. Overall I recommend this restaurant for their friendly staff, fresh food, and fun atmosphere. The bar needs to prepare the drinks as requested but all in all a great place!!!”

“A great place to bring friends or family, especially if they like seafood. It can be pretty busy at times so check that but as a current local this is a great spot, not as pricy as one might think. Right on the water with yachts and people watching in old town. Had a cocktail and it was fine, all in all check it out if you are in town!”
