Built around a custom wood-burning oven and featuring stunning panoramic views of the Potomac River, Ada's on the River draws inspiration from the ingenuity of Ada Lovelace, one of the greatest mathematicians of the 19th century. Ada's menus feature a selection of wood-fired prime steaks, fresh seafood and vegetarian fare, in addition to an extensive beer, wine and cocktail list.
“Had the BEST time! Food was fantastic, 10/10, no notes. Service was amazing. Officially my new fav brunch spot in VA ✨ I love the inspo behind this place, and the fact that they have a scholarship for girls going into STEM? Iconic.”
“Matthew was the server, incredible personality, warm, kind, patient, and just very much so a great people person. The good He recommended was so incredibly good. I’ll be back for sure in hopes to get Matthew as well. Thank you for having such an amazing waiter on staff. He seriously should be considered for management. My opinion.”
“Food was pretty good. Great environment. It’s a nice mix of upscale but casual. Wait staff was very attentive. I didn’t like my entree. They offered to take it back and gave me something I preferred more. No fuss. There’s parking nearby but it was a little bit of a hassle getting there because Old Towne gets pretty busy down by the river on nice days, so plan accordingly.”
“I had an overall nice and pleasant experience dining here! I took my mother, and we got to sit outside and enjoy the really beautiful evening weather. The food was excellent across the board. I had the pork chop, and she ordered the Short Rib Ravioli, both were fantastic. We also shared the corn succotash and roasted fingerlings, which perfectly rounded out the meal. Between the delicious dishes, the lovely ambiance, and the solid service, it was a wonderful evening. Highly recommend! :)”
“Will never be back. Overpriced for food and service we received. 1. Booked a table and specifically mentioned it’s for birthday celebration. And we were sat in the very back of the restaurant, right next to the server station. Also, not one staff mentioned anything about the birthday celebration during our visit. 2. The table we were sat at was small for an upscale restaurant. Specially when you have prime steaks on the menu. Once the bone-in ribeye comes out, half the table was taken, not much room left for side dishes and other entrées. 3. The tables in the back of the restaurant were basically right on top of each other. We could hear everything from the table next to us. I expected better from a supposedly upscale restaurant. 4. They do not know how to time the courses. It seems like we were always waiting in between courses. Again, an upscale restaurant should know this. 5. My butter knife was bent. And my steak knife was not sharp enough to cut my steak. I was basically sawing my steak and finally gave up halfway and took the other half of the steak home. Now on to the food. 1. The grilled octopus was boiled to a mush, then dropped on the grill to char the outside, it had the consistency of a tofu, the taste was bland and the texture was mushy. All the flavor came from the sauce. I do not recommend. 2. The best thing we had was the butter that came with the bread. 3. The bone-in ribeye was flavorful, but came out medium well rather than medium, which is what I ordered. For $72, I expect the restaurant to get the temperature correct. 4. The brussels sprouts were flavorful, but undercook, they all had a very crunchy center. 5. The carrots were great, no complaints there. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone I know and will definitely not be back.”
