From the owners of the former La Bergerie comes an innovative local eatery that melds the best of French country cuisine and American country products. Our concept is simple: We offer French style dishes prepared using the freshest ingredients available. But the food is only part of the experience: We offer a welcoming atmosphere where you’re warmly greeted and served. We’ve lovingly refurbished a 1925 Del Ray house to create a “home away from home” restaurant reminiscent of an old Virginia farmhouse where you can “come casual” and relax.
“This place is such a lovely hidden gem. I came across it completely by chance and am so glad I did. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and charming, with the feel of a beautiful French café. The salad was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the service was excellent from start to finish. For dessert, I had the chocolate molten cake with ice cream, and it was hands down the best chocolate cake I have ever had. Absolutely delicious. If you visit, the chocolate molten cake is a must-try!”
“Any time I visit my sister in D.C. I love to come to Del Ray Cafe. It is always delicious, the servers are kind and attentive, and the atmosphere is clean and relaxing. When you get your food, it looks like an Instagram photo every time. That is just their standard. I've never had a bad meal here. I usually get the lobster benedict when it's on special, or eggs benedict and a crepe. They also have fresh squeezed orange juice and many other delicacies on the menu. I'll be back in June and will definitely have a delicious breakfast or 2 here during my visit.”
“This is a French style culinary experience that one Should Not Miss. The food was spectacular and we highly recommend the Crepes as they were delicious and very authentic. The service was excellent and we were able to get in immediately to a table with 6 people. They even had a free library on their property for the community!”
“Excellent food. We had the Savory crepes. I had the Ham and cheese and my son had the Spinach one. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food. We also ordered the chocolate beignets . Amazing with the chocolate sauce.”
“I went to check out Del Ray Cafe for the first time recently and I left overall satisfied. The restaurant is small, quaint, and very well kept. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the decor was nice. The menu itself has many options that I think can cater to a wide audience of people and I appreciated that. One thing to note is Del Ray Cafe offers a lot of organic options, which is a bonus, since many restaurants use foods and ingredients that are detrimental to human health. The food itself was prepared quickly and tastes great. The pancakes were delicious and so was the lamb sausage. My only recommendation would be to give customers more juice. I ordered fresh pressed orange juice and the glass it came in, was much smaller than the glass that had water. Other than that, I'll be coming back for sure!”
