Having been around before Shoreditch exploded into what it is now, a busy and trendy area full of bars, pubs and restaurants, it can be hard to find the right place. Set just off of Hoxton square the Red Lion has long been a staple for regulars and passers by, open till midnight on the weekends and serving "some of the best pizza's" in Shoreditch. With its "hidden" roof top garden providing the perfect summer time feel and vibes
“Great pub, great rooftop garden with loads of tables, multiple floors with pool tables and games. Great service too. Great for a party”
“Was looking for a chilled pub to have some drinks with a mate and catch-up, perhaps over a game of pool or darts. Luckily I was standing 3 mins away from here when I did a quick Google. Spent the rest of my night here. Amazing vibes. Lovely staff. Grear dart board. They even had. Foosball table and giant Jenga puzzle. Whole thing was for free as well. Highly recommend giving this place a look.”
“A fine pub indeed. Tiny bar downstairs with the most wonderful person serving behind the bar. Excellent service and a happy disposition. Upstairs, a playroom if you like table football, further upstairs, another playroom if you like pool and even further upstairs a rooftop garden to enjoy the sunshine. An excellent place to enjoy a drink.”
“This pub was a real surprise. From the outside it looks small and old fashioned, the ground floor somewhat reinforces that opinion, a small bar and not many seats. However the surprise is that this pub is on four floors. The first floor has a good sized seating area and table football. The second floor has less seating due to there being a pool table. Then there is a good sized roof terrace, unfortunately I did not spend time there as it was wet, cold and windy. The ground floor also has a real fire, adding warmth and creating a cosy feel. Although I did not see any cask beer they did have a reasonable whisky selection (I opted for a double Woodford Reserve bourbon at £11.60). This pub is certainly not pretentious, I really liked it and highly recommend it.”
“Went last night for a friends birthday. Was charging my phone as it was on low percentage and I was travelling alone at 11:30pm and wanted to make sure I could be in contact with someone throughout my journey. The manager, Vicky, took my phone and handed it to the bar staff. When I asked for my phone back she said “did you ask for permission to charge your phone in my pub” I said no (because there were no signs saying you can’t use the plugs) and I assumed, as a woman (or even for a male), she would understand the safety aspect of having a charged phone for travelling through London at night. I was told “how dare you use my electricity” and that I couldn’t charge my phone. The bar staff told me they had just been shouted at, despite visibly doing their job. Not only does she treat her staff like crap, she treats her customers badly - and my group of 20 people will not be returning. Continued treatment like that to both staff and customers is appalling and Vicky needs to retire or leave. No one should be spoken to the way she did to me, or her staff (who were the nicest and kindest people). I hope someone takes further action because that pub will shut down if she continues the way she does. Hope to hear back from the team, with an apology.”
