“We had the pleasure of dining at Rosetta on our recent trip to Mexico City. Getting a reservation was tough and we were unable to secure an inside table and sat outside on the (street side) patio. To be honest I’m glad we did as it was a beautiful night and the space is well designed and very comfortable. In the future I might even request it. You need to be comfortable with the city noise and ambiance in a very active area but we loved it. We arrived early so we could enjoy the upstairs bar. What a beautiful space and I recommend you try to fit it in before of after. From the start the service was great and the service staff was lovely. The food is divine and every dish we ordered was amazing. They have an excellent sommelier who magically appeared at the right moment to help us navigate the wine menu. He steered us to some wonderful Mexican wines. Give them a try they were surprisingly good! Great place to dine but reserve early this place is a hot ticket !”
“Restaurant Rosetta which we made reservations to 3 months in advance, is every bit as beautiful as its reputation suggests. A grand, upmarket space with gorgeous high ceilings, lush greenery and art-covered walls that make the dining room feel like a sophisticated indoor garden. The atmosphere is elegant and it fits its Michelin-star status perfectly, from the setting to the service. The specials change daily and is printed fresh; we actually had to wait about ten minutes for that day’s menu to be run off before our server could present it, which only added to the sense that everything is seasonal and very considered. Cocktails were excellent tart, balanced, complex and the kind you want to linger over while you decide what to eat. We started with sourdough rye and ant butter, which was intriguing and fun to try, though there weren’t quite enough ants to really cut through the rich, creamy butter as much as we’d hoped. The short rib with polenta, slow-cooked overnight, was beautifully done and the meat just fell off the bone and melted into the velvety polenta. We enjoyed the roasted suckling pig with sweet potato purée and achiote sauce and the presentation was gorgeous. The runaway star of the meal, though, was the chicken liver pasta: deeply savoury, silky and utterly addictive. We are still somewhat annoyed and delighted that we didn’t stop to photograph it, because we basically devoured it the moment it landed on the table. For dessert, the panna cotta was the jiggliest we’ve ever seen, with that perfect wobble that makes you grin before the first spoonful. Overall, Rosetta feels like a special-occasion restaurant that absolutely earns its Michelin recognition . Gorgeous, green and artful as a space, with food and drinks that are thoughtful, delicious and memorable.”
“Unfortunately not worth the hype. I was really looking forward to dining here, but the experience was just ok. We were rushed the whole time we were there. Our reservation was for 4:15 and we left shortly after 5 (so we are there for less than an hour) and the doors were locked. They unlocked to let us out. No one told us our dining time would be limited (neither disclosed in the reservation or when we arrived). Food was hit and miss. The col rizada tacos were unique and tasty, the fish was dry and bland. The rest was meh. Also, every single empty side dish they brought us (because we were sharing) was chipped or missing a piece, which was really unexpected from a restaurant like this. I would never serve you food on a broken plate if you came to my house to eat. I would want you to feel welcomed.”
“Unfortunately to us, Rosetta really couldn’t live up to the expectations of being in the 50 best restaurants of the world and having a Michelin star. I’ve been in many Michelin starred restaurants and the overall experience at Rosetta was at the bottom of that list. The space looks nice, but it was chilly and noisy. People closer to the front door were wearing their winter coats. Reception was friendly and fine. Our table was set for three instead of two people and I later understood that this must be because avg time spent in this restaurant is very limited compared to other high quality places, so they don’t have a clear seating plan for the booked guests. Service was ok, friendly, but no explanation about the menu or whatsoever. The four dishes we had were tasty, especially the tortellini filled with sweet potato and a clear Mexican flavor palette. The latter is the only interesting part about Rosetta: combining the flavors of Mexico with the Italian ones, in a modern and fresh way. If you’re looking for high quality, finer dining or you’re celebrating a special occasion, there are better restaurants in CDMX.”
“We were so excited and had made this reservation right after booking our tickets for CDMX and I have never been more disappointed by a Michelin star restaurant. We tried a lot on the menu from starters, pasta/soup and Main and the only course that was good was the mushroom pasta. The salad was nothing to write home about, the tamale was fresh but ok and needed more. The spaghetti was too el dente and I am glad our server told us to do half portions of pasta. I had the snapper which has no seasoning and was too sweet w the pineapple sauce and my friend had the pork which literally made her sick. I honestly felt so rushed between courses and I wish they gave us a breather. We had barely finished a course and the servers would come to clear the tables. For the good part: the food was always hot, and the ambiance was great and the servers were attentive. I am so sad this was the experience and just want to share so people know what to expect for a highly recommended restaurant. I think it's just hype than worth it.”
