“This was the coolest little place! We absolutely loved all the food, our server was awesome and I've never been anywhere where they had a pitcher of lemonade that they topped off throughout the meal! It was really tasty homemade lemonade. We also bought 1 1/2 pies and brought them home! AMAZING 🤩”
“This was truly such a treat to visit on a road trip to Houston. I enjoyed a chilled glass of prosecco, the crab cakes, a mug of the jalapeño cheese soup (of the day) and the BLT. We also had a slice of buttermilk pie and Texas trash to enjoy later that evening. I loved the community feel, the local flair and the community style seating.”
“We took a Girls' Trip to Round Top for the Fall Show. We were lucky to be able to grab reservations at Royers. The food was great. The service was honest, helpful, and hilarious. We had Chicken Piccata, Shrimp & Grits, and Jud's Great Steak. Everything was delicious - the best food of our entire trip! We had Buttermilk, Apple, and Pecan pie too. All were tasty. The buttermilk is not everyone's favorite, but for someone who loves buttermilk pie (ME!), this one was awesome!”
“Famous little place with really delectable pies. The crust on these pies is amazing. We got a slice of blueberry lemon, an apple ala mode, a junk pie, and a slice of bread pudding. Delicious. The servers were the sweetest.”
“We were really excited to try Royers during our Round Top weekend and made reservations several days ahead of time, even confirming them beforehand for what was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day and birthday dinner celebration. Unfortunately, when we arrived, there were already 20+ people waiting outside and we were added to the list and told we’d still have to wait until they could seat us. We ended up waiting about an hour past our reservation time, which made it feel like reservations are not honored at all. What made it more frustrating was watching people get skipped around, larger groups seated ahead of others who had been waiting longer, and hearing multiple people being told they were “next” when they clearly weren’t. The overall experience just felt very disorganized and chaotic. I even saw them seat people with reservations at shared tables with other parties they didn’t come with, which just added to the chaos. We were really hoping the food would make the wait worth it, but unfortunately it didn’t. The food was mediocre overall, and the peach pepper pork chop was so heavily seasoned with pepper it was almost inedible. It wasn’t just the pork chop either — other menu items ordered were overly seasoned as well. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a destination town like Round Top, but if reservations are going to function more like a waitlist, that should either be communicated more clearly upfront or not be an option at all and simply operate as first come, first served, since that seemed to be more of the vibe here. Sadly, what was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day and birthday dinner ended up being pretty disappointing overall. One and done.”
