“We visited Salt for the first time for my husband's birthday and the whole experience was great. We were greeted warmly by the host and seated at a lovely private table. Our server recommended the most delicious non-alcoholic drinks and my husband said his was the highlight of the whole evening. The food was phenomenal (my husband's first time trying beef Wellington and he was very happy with it!), the service was top tier, and the atmosphere was perfect. We both hope to be back!”
“We celebrated at salt and when I made the reservation they went out of their way to help us have a very special night! We were given champagne at the start. Attentive staff made sure we were taken care of all night. Martin was the best server and knew the menu inside and out. His attentive nature made it feel extra special. The fall tasting menu was amazing and pushed the elegance even further. Then the icing on the cake was a trio tasting of their desserts for our celebration!! Amazing and the manager even came over to discuss our night and listened to all feedback! It was the most special night and we highly recommend!! The chesnut bisque was to die for by the way!!”
“First time here. Dev at the bar gave the best service I’ve ever had. Lenijah made the best sazerac I’ve ever had. The chef—Mike Turley—is a friend, and the meal was the best we’ve ever had. The oysters, burger, and walleye blew us away. Bottom line: this place is a truce gem. We licked our plates. The best of the best. We came dressed in work clothes & were treated liked royalty. Don’t miss it if you’re in Rockford.”
“I’ve been sitting on this review for a while. I visited with my husband during restaurant week. I was hungry and forgot to take pictures before digging in. They had a special for a 4-course meal with and without a paring, I ordered with parings. Each course was paired with wine except dessert; it was paired with a bourbon. The paring went well with the accompanying flavors. Every single dish was warm, except those that were supposed to be served cold. 1st course was shrimp sliced very thin garnished with cilantro and served chilled. The 2nd course was green tortellini severed on a very large bowl. 3rd course was duck breast medium served demi-glace. The final course was Pancetta covered with candied pasticcios. I was a bit disappointed with my meal because it seemed old fashion, that is, the flavors were classic, not innovative. I think it’s worth everyone trying.”
“This would have been a 2 star review if not for the terrific service we received. Truly disappointed with the food given all of the reviews and the cost. Here’s the food we had - Tortellini: Good taste and texture 3.5/5 Fried clams: Tangy and herby mixture of sauces and good crunch of clams 4/5 Short rib Wellington: I had high expectations for this. First time having it with short rib, and it was fully cooked on the inside, making it dry when eaten on its own. The gravy and mashed potatoes were great, but the Wellington on its own was so hard to eat due to the dryness. I had to stop eating once I ran out of sauce and potato. On top of it all, the Wellington had a huge lack of SALT. In a restaurant called Salt. The irony. 2/5 Risotto: Truly horrible. Not only were the crushed walnuts a weird texture with the risotto, the dish itself had 0 flavour. My wife took 3 bites and refused to eat more, despite her pregnancy and hunger. 0/5. Apple pie: Solid pie. Ice cream was okay. 3.5/5. For a $240 meal with drinks, there are better options in Rockford.”
