Over 20 years ago, our Founding Partner, Tom Stolpman, discovered what we believe to be one of the greatest viticultural sites on earth. Hidden in the hills of California’s Central Coast, on a rare Limestone outcropping & unobstructed from the Pacific Ocean wind, this unique land is naturally suited to grow Syrah and Roussanne grapes. We are committed to preserving this natural environment for our vines through conscious farming, dry farming, & sustainable employment. In the winery, we prefer native fermentation & minimal manipulation. Dedicated to sensible farming & winemaking, we believe that we can create vibrant, site-specific wines, with a focus unique to Ballard Canyon AVA, California.
“In my opinion, this is one of the best wineries /tasting rooms in Los Olivos! Not only is the tasting patio / area so charming and cute, but I have yet to try a bad wine there. They have the “fresh” tasting and the “estate” tasting and I couldn’t guide you one way or the other because I love both. You should probably just do both to be safe. :) I ended up signing up for the wine club shipments (and since we can’t wait for the shipment to arrive, we bought a case of wines on the spot as well - fyi, the wines are offered at the discounted price if you’re a club member). Joining the club and/or buying wines at the time of your tasting will also waive the tasting costs ($25pp) which is the case with most tasting rooms. I will definitely go back to Stolpman everytime I’m in Los Olivos. My only pro tip is to make sure you make a reservation for your tasting - they fill up and you may not be able to do a tasting if you simply walk in.”

“My girlfriend brought this home from a bridal shower (gift) she attended. I can say without any hesitation it was without question the worst bottle of wine either of us ever tasted. Mind you you my Italian import dad made his own horrible wine in the 70s and it tasted like gasoline. 2 sips and down the drain. Can't speak to the restaurant but this was truly aweful.”
