“If you’re looking for a fancy date night or just an elevated dinner, The Sylvan Table is the place to go. This was our second time at the restaurant for my partner’s birthday and we’re thinking it will end up being a tradition for us every year. The ambience is beautiful, from the outdoor patio to the multi-level restaurant building with various rooms and a spacious bar. You can explore the grounds of the farm and gardens where so many ingredients on your plate are grown. It is serene and attractive. The waitstaff are beyond expectations. Both visits we’ve gone, the waitstaff we had were extremely knowledgeable. Our first visit was someone who was newer on staff and even they felt very immersed in their job. You can ask questions about food preparations, get recommendations, and have a pleasant conversation. Every employee we spoke with we had this experience. Now. The food. My partner and I LOVE trying new things, so we’ll always get a starter and a side here. We’ve done the charcuterie selection both visits and had such fun experiences with new flavors and new combinations. Even if it’s a flavor I wasn’t particularly fond of (I’m not as into the crazy cheeses as my partner is), it’s still high quality and a good experience. (I will probably never try the chicken liver pate ever again though 😅😅). One of the only downsides I have from my experience last year was that I found much of the main courses very salty. I may be a little sensitive to salt, but it was noticeable to both me and my partner. This year however? My waiter recommended I try the pork chop — not something he said he would normally order while eating out, but Sylvan’s was different. Oh he did not steer me wrong. I’m still thinking about that pork chop with the rhubarb glaze and celery root mash. Life changing. My partner got the Walleye, and it was good, but pretty standard and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for the price. For dessert, the pave au citron was spectacular, alongside the scoop of salted vanilla ice cream. You can’t go wrong with any of their cocktails either. Their specials drink menu is always fun to try. All in all, a spectacular restaurant and overall experience. The owners are masters of their craft and while expensive, it feels great to support fresh food from fresh, local sources. We will keep coming back!”
“Superb farm to table restaurant with a cozy relaxed atmosphere. The food was fantastic and you could see the care the team put into every dish served. Service was friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful meal. Loved the pumpkin dessert, short ribs, and charcuterie platter. Definitely make a reservation. Willing to acco.modate allergens too, which is wonderful.”
“We stopped by on Valentine's weekend to enjoy a datenight. The place has a cool ambiance but the seating were a bit too close to fully enjoy the experience. The changing menu has a nice variety of protein options and interesting cocktails. Our food and cocktails were really good. Up to our expectations. Service was good, not exceptional. We will try it again when the weather is warm enough to enjoy the outdoor seatings.”
“I had a bit of a mixed experience. The atmosphere is really nice, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. You can tell they care about what they do, and the overall vibe makes it a great place to relax and enjoy a night out. We started with cocktails, which were well made and enjoyable. The bread service was also a highlight, it came with three different kinds of butter, and that was a fun and tasty touch. For our main dishes, we tried the crispy pork belly and the fire grilled steak. The pork belly itself was cooked well, but the rest of the dish didn’t quite come together for me. As for the steak, it was unfortunately very chewy, though I did enjoy the aïoli it was served with. We also ordered a side of mashed potatoes, which were ok. Overall, nothing on the food side really wowed me flavor wise and definitely not worth the price. That said, the atmosphere is great, and I’d consider coming back to try different drinks.”
“We visited Sylvan Table this past Friday and had a mixed experience. The ambiance is beautiful — warm, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. Service was also great; our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable. The cocktails (Dark & Stormy and Samoa Cookie) were excellent, and the bone marrow with focaccia and Dirty Martini Salad were definite highlights. Unfortunately, the entrées didn’t match the quality of the starters. The short rib was pretty standard, the duck breast was dry, the carrots were undercooked, and the shawarma mushrooms were very chewy. The mashed potatoes were good. Overall, for a premium restaurant at this price point, we expected more consistency. Great atmosphere and drinks, but the mains fell short. Would I go back? Maybe for cocktails and apps at the bar.”
