“We just had our wedding here and not only is the location beautiful, but the staff itself is really what makes this place stand out. Adriana and Logan were amazing throughout the planning process and the day of. Adriana kept consistent communication and was so helpful and flexible for our wedding. All of the staff were also wonderful and kind, shoutout to Rebecca who made sure the groom and I got to enjoy our cocktail hour food by making sure we had a plate. We stayed in the main house and booked all 6 rooms on the upper floors and the rooms are each gorgeous and filled with so much history. We had multiple people during the wedding not only compliment the venue, but said how yummy the food was. Their breakfast service was delicious too. We've also eaten dinner here multiple times and will recommend The English Inn whether for events/ weddings, a nice night out, or even for a nightcap (had multiple family members say how knowledgeable the bartender was). Truly a hidden gem in Eaton Rapids.”
“Restaurant Review Met my sister in law for her birthday. The holiday decorations are very nice. The service was impeccable. The food was delicious Sat in a lovely room with a fireplace More recently, went to a baby shower in the big room with a fireplace. Very swanky. Nice, amazing food The menu changes daily, I think, I forgot to take a picture of it. Forgive the crass but accurate description of the meal.”
“This review is specifically for our dinner experience as we did not stay at the inn. We spent some time in the pub downstairs before dinner and had a really nice chat with our bartender and the server who was attending in the pub. Really friendly service and lovely ambience . Once we were seated for our reservation we were greeted by Hannah who made us feel very welcome and provided us with top-notch hospitality. Great food options; we came in for the prefix menu dinner special and was not disappointed. Everything from the freshly baked roll to our dessert was a great experience for the price. Prime rib was exquisite and perfectly cooked, and everyone else at my table loved their entrées. The hospitality from the staff is what stuck out the most; we received such a warm welcome and we were made to feel well taken care of throughout our experience. Many thanks to Hannah and the rest of the English Inn team for providing such a wonderful evening out.”
“Have always loved the old style homes and Victorian decore. Went out for Mother's Day dinner and enjoyed the experience. We ate in the pub area, as the prices were more in our range for the day. Grounds were nice, but would recommend going later in the season. Not able to enjoy the beauty of the plants or flowers. Over all was a nice find, not my Grand Hotel experiences, but will do again.”
“Super disappointed by our dinner here yesterday. We had been once before when they were running a prix fixe promotion and it was fine (portions were small but we assumed this was for the set menu, but this turned out not to be the case). We were out for a special occasion so I opted for the splurge option in the short rib- as another person mentioned, it was a very small portion but beyond that it wasn't what was described on the menu. The menu description said served with horseradish Parsnip mash and pickled apples- the mash was an extremely sweet parsnip apple puree, 0 horseradish flavor. This was a recurring theme- my partner's vegan lasagna had no noodles in it. While I've certainly seen and eaten lasagna with zucchini noodles before, this is in no way the default and then menu didn't say anywhere it was a gluten free or pasta-less dish. The portion was very small and insubstantial. We also asked about the gnocchi and our waiter (who was very nice) warned us the menu description was misleading and it was in fact more of a kale salad with gnocchi than a gnocchi dish with a side of kale. I think if they just had honest menu descriptions people would be less disappointed. Our cocktails were good, salads were fine. Their bread service is very funny, I asked for a roll and brought exactly one in a basket, they didn't offer my partner one. Baked brie was very mild, and as another person noted served with generic bar crackers. They did comp my meal immediately when I said it wasn't what I expected based on the menu description which was nice. But I ended up not having anything instead so no dinner and ended up really just so disappointed because we were looking forward to a nice date night splurge :/”
