The Elms Hotel and culinary team recently unveiled a new epicurean spree of original dishes, bold flavors, and crafty cocktails that celebrate Midwest American fare and spirits. Rooted in the land on which it’s built, The Elms Hotel & Spa collaborates with local farmers, ranchers, and distilleries to highlight the bounty of Missouri in its restaurant now called Three Owls.
“Three Owls at the Elms Hotel in Excelsior Springs was a nice place for dinner. We were seated right away and the ambience was cozy, especially with the fireplace going. We were able to choose our table, which made the experience feel relaxed and comfortable. The food was good and tasted fresh. The only downside was how long everything took. There were only a few couples in the restaurant, yet each part of the meal felt slow to arrive. Maybe that is why their food tastes good. It seems like they take their time with every dish. Overall it was a pleasant experience with a warm atmosphere and good food, just be prepared for a slower pace.”
“Steaks were good but the service was even better. I ordered just 10 minutes before kitchen closes and they were kind enough to prepare everything quickly for us.”
“Our dinner was delicious! We got the strip steak with Gouda mac-n-cheese (so good), salmon (cooked perfectly) with wild rice and kale, a side of roasted Brussel sprouts (probably the best Brussel sprouts I’ve ever had), and the seasonal cheesecake. Sarah was a great server and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I took one star off because the price of the food. Highly recommend this restaurant!”
“This was a weird experience. At breakfast, it was absolutely incredible. The service was on point and the food was delivered hot and fast to our table. At dinner, they were trying so hard but it seemed like they were understaffed and needed more help in the front and back of the house. We both had pasta with a cream based sauce that was not served warm enough. The bread was dry (even with butter). We had a custom cake to celebrate my husband's birthday and the manager delivered it to our table. Unfortunately, it was fresh from the refrigerator and cold cake doesn't taste the best. I'm posting pictures of both breakfast and lunch.”
“I had high expectations of the food based on my experience at the spa and in the hotel itself. The food was not amazing, with the exception of the pork belly -that was amazing. I ordered the NY Strip steak and it was not cooked properly (I asked for medium rare and it was barely rare). They didn't offer to order a new dish or steak, but the manager offered to just to fire it up again and it took two tries, and a different server brought it over and asked if I wanted it medium, and I said no, medium rare but this isn't that. He didn't seem to agree. The Caesar salad was pretty bland, and I wished it would be good because I've had some amazing house made Caesar dressing and house made croutons -I've had better store bought salads, and there was even a $2 up charge. I ordered the potatoes and they were pretty, but not seasoned. The texture was off (maybe too much liquid), although again piped beautifully into the bowl. I wanted to be impressed but honestly I would not eat here again.”
